Bad fourth quarter costs Lady Mavs

The Anderson County Lady Mavericks dropped a non-district game at Oliver Springs last Friday night, falling by a score of 49-39.

The Lady Mavs took a 10-9 lead in the first quarter as Brooklin McCoy, Callie Bowling, and Hannah Freeman each scored for Anderson County.

The Lady Mavs took a modest 22-19 lead at the half as Mollie Longmire joined in scoring in the second quarter.

Both teams played an even third quarter with Anderson County clinging to a 34-31 lead as Tea` Hickson and Juliann Smith put points on the board for the Lady Mavs.

The fourth quarter was all Lady Bobcats as they outscored Anderson County 18-5 and took the win.

McCoy led the Lady Mavs with 14 points — the only Anderson County player to score in double figures.

The Lady Mavs return to action on Friday night when they host district rival Campbell County.

On Tuesday, they visit Knox Central.

Tip-off for each game is 6 p.m.
