Roane State Success Coach program earns statewide honored

Roane State’s success coach program won a statewide certi cate for excellence and has become a benchmark for programs throughout the state’s 12 other community colleges.

“Roane State has been a leader in developing student success opportunities,” said Kim Harris, the college’s director of workplace training and placement.

Harris nominated Roane State’s success coach program for the award, and it won out over other nominees among Tennessee’s community colleges.

The recognition was bestowed by the Tennessee Alliance for Continuing Higher Education.

The organization is comprised of continuing education professionals.

The college’s success coach program was launched in the fall semester of 2016. Success coaches work with students during their first year and provide expertise in all facets of the college experience, from course registration to nancial aid.

The statewide award is given for programs less than ve years old that re ect originality in approach, content and delivery.

To qualify for the honor, programs must also be easily replicated at other institutions
