Hardin Valley 7

The Oak Ridge Wildcats opened the 2018 season with a huge non-region road win at Hardin Valley Academy, winning 23-7.

The Wildcats opened scoring in the first quarter with a field goal, which was set up by a 77-yard run by Tyrell Romano. A Herbert Booker touchdown pass pushed the Oak Ridge lead to 9-0.

A Jordan Graham touchdown run in the second half sealed the win for the Wildcats who will host Dobyns-Bennett on Friday at 7:30 p.m.

Halls 0

Powell 35

The second incarnation of the Matt Lowe era at Powell started with a bang as the Panthers rolled visiting Halls 35-0 in the “Battle of Emory Road.”

Eli Owens scored on a short run on the opening possession of the game. James added the PAT to give the Panthers a 7-0 lead. Later in the quarter, Walker Trusley threw a 17-yard touchdown pass to Riley Bryant. The extra point from Hyman made it 14-0.

In the second quarter, Deuce Shreve threw a 17-yard touchdown pass to Bailor Walker to make it 20-0 in favor of the home team. The PAT failed.

The Panthers’ Colton Webb blocked a punt — the first of two blocked punts on the evening for Powell — to set up a scoring drive that ended with one-yard touchdown run by Owens, who also ran in the two-point conversion to make it 28-0 in favor of the Panthers at the half.

Powell tacked on a touchdown in the fourth quarter when Shreve found Carson Cole on an eight-yard pass. Hyman added the extra point to make the final 35-0.

The Panthers move to 1-0 and will host Cumberland County on Friday night at 7:30 p.m.



Oliver Springs 18

Bledsoe County 13

The Oliver Springs Bobcats opened the 2018 season with an 18-13 win at Bledsoe County on Friday night.

Stats were not available at press time.

The Bobcats (1-0) will visit Roane County on Friday night at 7:30 p.m.



Campbell Co. 49

Cherokee 28

The Campbell County Cougars outdueled the Cherokee Chiefs on Friday night, winning 49-28.

The game went back and forth early as Campbell County quarterback Landon Addington threw a touchdown pass to Devlin Dukes to tie the score at 21-21 at the half.

Drew Jordan broke the tie in the third quarter with a touchdown run. From there, the Addington to Christian Shouse show took over.

Shouse ended the game with 10 catches for 247 yards and four touchdowns.

Addington went 23-28 for 342 yards and five touchdowns.

The Cougars (1-0) host David Crockett on Friday night at 7:30 p.m.
