National Public Lands Day includes chances to lend a hand in clean up

The Tennessee Valley Authority invites the public to join in celebrating National Public Lands Day.

TVA and its partners are hosting several events in the Knoxville area over the next two weekends aimed at keeping these public lands and lakes clean and beautiful for recreation users in the Tennessee Valley.

National Public Lands Day Events:

• Norris Fall Island Invasion and Cleanup: Saturday, Sept. 29 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m.

This event focuses on removing trash and debris from islands on Norris Lake.

• Loyston Point National Public Lands: Sunday, Sept. 30 from 9 a.m.-12 p.m.

Meet at the Loyston Loop Trailhead on Lakeshore Drive in Andersonville for a work day on the Loyston Trails. Bring bikes and kids for a family ride once the work is done.
