Roof cave-in reason for demolition
Demolition began in the Ingles Shopping Center at 190 Clinch Ave. in Clinton last week due to the roof caving in at one of the empty storefronts.
Ingles CFO Ron Freeman said that the best option was to demolish those buildings and prepare them for redevelopment at some point in the future.
“At the present, we do not anticipate further demolition,” Freeman said. “Our policy is to not comment further until such time any redevelopment actually commences.”
Ingles representatives have been notoriously tight-lipped about any possible plan for that shopping center. It once had a Goody’s and a K-mart, but is now only home to Ingles.
While no plans for development are being discussed, Ingles is actively hiring in most departments.
