JOHN LAMAR HUNT 'TENNESSEE'

John Lamar Hunt “Tennessee” crossed over to his forever home and into the loving arms of his Father God May 9, 2020, at Mission Memorial Hospital in Asheville, N.C., after a brief illness.

Mr. Hunt was born in Atlanta, Ga., In 1968 and lived most of his life in Anderson County. He graduated from Clinton Sr. High School in 1987. He completed an associates degree in music at Pellissippi State and received EPA Certification in HVAC at Tennessee Tech in Knoxville. An accomplished blues musician, Mr. Hunt made his home in Burnsville, N.C. from 2015 until his passing.

Mr. Hunt was preceded in death by: Father, Johnny L. Hunt of Oak Ridge; grandfather and grandmother, Bootie and Wynette Hunt, also of Oak Ridge; and nephew, Michael Seth Brendel of York, Penn.

John Hunt is survived by: Beloved mother, Jean W. Hunt of Burnsville; special friends, L.A. Walker of Green Mountain and Ella Jo Willis of Burnsville; his aunt and uncle, Jay and Sue Brendel of York, Penn.; uncle, J.B. Hunt of Oak Ridge; and his “little sister” Dallas Rabig of Montgomery, Ala.; as well as numerous cousins, and many friends in Tennessee, Georgia, Kentucky, Indiana, and North Carolina.

Mr. Hunt was a friend to everyone and never met a stranger. He used his music to heal the suffering and heartache of others. He was a free-spirited lover of life, a traveler far and wide. Wherever he went, he made friends of strangers always ready with a smile, a kind word, a funny story, or a soulful song for all.

Due to the Covid-19 shutdown making a formal memorial service impossible, the family will receive friends from 1 – 4 p.m. Sunday, May 17, 2020, at Weatherford Mortuary in Oak Ridge, keeping in mind a limit of 10 people present at any given time.
