Tennessee High takes 1-0 decision from Lady Mavs

Anderson County High School’s girls soccer team saw its 2023 season come to an end in the state sectionals Saturday night.

The Lady Mavericks came up on the short end of a 1-0 decision against Bristol’s Tennessee High School in a Section 1-AA match at home.

The loss ended the 2023 campaign that saw Anderson County win 14 games, the District 4-AA regular-season title, and postseason tournament championship.

The Lady Mavericks (14-6-2) opened the week in the Region 2-AA Tournament, where they defeated Carter, 5-0, in the tournament semifinals on Tuesday, Oct. 17, at ACHS.

Zoey Rose scored two goals and dished out an assist against the Lady Hornets.

Emma Leander added a pair of markers and Morgan Haire added a tally. Roxana Aguilar had an assist in the match against Carter.

On Thursday, the Lady Mavs claimed the region championship with a 1-0 victory over district rival Gibbs.

Rose had the lone goal in the region championship match.
