Clinton High School senior Summer Wilson has battled health problems this season.

But the senior cross country athlete had her best showing of the season at the All Comers Meet in Knoxville early last week.

Wilson completed the 5,000-meter course at Victor Ashe Park in 25 minutes, 37.97 seconds on Tuesday, Oct. 17.

Her mark was posted just eight days before the region championships, which were held Wednesday at Victor Ashe Park (results were not available at press time). She finished 78th in last week’s race.

“She’s been having health problems all year, but she had a [personal record] and really ran great,” Clinton Coach Tim Kumes said of Wilson.

In the boys race, the Dragons continued to see their times fall just before the region championships.

Cooper Bostrom was Clinton’s top finisher last week. He came in 108th and had a time of 20:33.21.

Caleb Holt finished 128th (21:02.31). Lucas Gates crossed the finish line in 185th place (23:21.71).

Max Bostrom finished 193rd (23:36.96), and Ryley Brewer was 196th as he completed the race in 23:40.71.

Kumes said that he was pleased with the effort last week.

“This was pretty much a preview for the region, and our guys continued to improve on their [personal records],” Kumes said.
