Anderson County High School’s boys basketball team began the week riding the crest of a three-game winning streak.

The Mavericks won their third consecutive game as they topped Northview Academy 64-47 at ACHS on Tuesday, Dec. 5.

The Mavericks (4-4) struggled a bit out of the gate, but second-year Head Coach Jordan Jeffers said the team is beginning to come together as it finds its identity.

“I think we have a better idea of who we are right now,” he said. “Early in the year, it’s hard to know what kind of team that you’ve got.

“We’ve got our football players back and those guys have really helped us. Early, it’s hard to know what you have, but you have to find out who you are by the time district starts.”

Against Northview, Cole Russell scored 17 points, while Ryan McGhee, Hayden Craig and Brandon Dake added 11 points each for the Mavs. They opened District 4-AAA play Tuesday against Scott. Results were not available at press time.

Anderson County will play host to crosstown rival Clinton (which opened the week with a 2-5 record) on Friday. Tipoff is slated for 7:30 p.m. at ACHS.
