Daugherty named ‘Coach of the Year’

Moody, Basford named first-team all-district

One area coach and 13 local players were recognized when the District 4-AAA coaches released their regular-season awards recently.

The all-district teams and superlative awards were unveiled at the district meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 7.

The Clinton Lady Dragons won the regular-season title, and Clinton’s Alicia Daugherty was named Coach of the Year.

Lady Dragons sophomore forward Lanee Carmichael was the league’s Player of the Year.

Josie Moody was a first-team all-league selection, while Addi Gamble received second-team honors.

Anderson County finished second in the league standings.

The Lady Mavericks’ Bethany Lowe was named Co-Newcomer of the Year.

Macy Basford was a first-team all-district selection, while Jaylynn Bullock and Emily Mustard were named to the second team.

Meanwhile, Anderson County’s boys were regular-season champions.

The Mavericks’ Cam Lawson was named the district’s Newcomer of the Year. Brandon Dake was a first-team all-district selection. Hayden Craig and Cole Russell were named to the second team.

Clinton, which finished second in the regular-season standings, was represented on the first team by Jeremiah Lee.

Clinton’s LeBron Booker received second-team all-district honors.
