To the Editor:

The Holiday Bureau would like to thank the following businesses and individuals for their generosity this year.

These businesses provided food for our volunteers during our Christmas toy give out: Outback, Buddy’s BBQ, Papa John’s, Arby’s, Chic-fil-A, Pizza Hut, Bojangles, McDonald’s on the Turnpike and Illinois Avenue, and Calhoun’s on Kingston Pike, Knoxville, and in Oak Ridge.

The following businesses and organizations collected or purchased toys for us this year: National Fitness members and staff, Cash Express, Alignment Chiropractic, SARG, Youth Advisory Board of Oak Ridge, Y-12 Federal Credit Union Business Lending Dept., Tranzonic Co. of Knoxville, and The Episcopal School of Knoxville first-grade class for a large U-Haul truck of toys they collected.

New toys were collected by the Rich and Thursby families in Memory of Louie and Ida Rich, and Ann Freeman. They stated that they hoped the Holiday Bureau tradition would continue for many years. The family of Wilbur Hatmaker collected new toys in his Memory.

Many individuals also donated new and used toys and non-perishable food to us this year, for which we are very thankful.

We would also like to recognize Anita Alcorn for her many years of dressing Barbie dolls before passing in December, and the Girl Scouts working with Barbies.

Exceptional Volunteers: ORAU employees, the city of Oak Ridge Recreation Department employees, Home Depot employees, Clinton City Manager Roger Houck for allowing us to use the Community Center for our Clinton sign-ups this year, Clinton Fire Chief Jeff Little, and firefighters, Anderson County Mayor Terry Frank, and Roger Lloyd and his men. Also, Richard Wolfe, Jerry Bridges, and Paul Price. We would also like to thank the Anderson County Sheriff’s Department and inmates.

Monetary donations were given by Food City Corp., Atkins (Isotek) Corp. and Atkins employees, First United Methodist Church of Kingston, Kiwanis Club of Oak Ridge, Ruth’s Circle of the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church of Oak Ridge, Anderson County Chapter of Knoxville Area Realtors, Alignment Chiropractic, Stephenson Reality, Cloud Holdings LLC, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Fidelity Charitable, Oak Ridge Area Doll Club, Schwab Charitable, Lions Club, First Christian Church of Oak Ridge, Give Lively Foundation, Women of the Moose, and CNS-Y-12.
