An area high school soccer player finalized her college plans last week.

Anderson County High School’s Elizabeth Troyna signed her national letter of intent to continue her athletic endeavors and academic pursuits at Roane State Community College.

There, she’ll be on the school’s first team, and play for former Oak Ridge High School girls’ Coach Donnie Green.

She said she chose to attend Roane State and play for the Lady Raiders because of the academic and athletic opportunities that the school provides at a relatively low cost.

“What helped me decide to go to Roane State was the thought of my future,” Troyna said. “I wanted to be able to continue my academic and soccer career without having to worry about student loans, and being able to still do what I love.

“I know playing for Coach Green I’ll have a chance to play and I’m not putting my effort in for nothing.”

Troyna, who helped the Lady Mavericks make a Class AA state sectional appearance as a senior in 2023, said she was relieved to have the recruiting process behind her at her signing ceremony, which was held April 11 at Anderson County

High.

“Now that I am signed, it’s a relief off my back, knowing that I have a plan in place to go to college and continue my education and athletic career.” she said.

“I’m am excited to be close to home, still being able to have the support from the people I love, and be able to support my past teammates and friends in their success,” Troyna said.

She’ll major in general studies.

She aspires to transfer to the University of Tennessee and pursue a degree in interior design.

Troyna said she is grateful to ACHS, Chris Curtin, athletics director Gary Terry, her parents, God, her teachers, Mr. Leverton and Mr. Hall, her former club coach, Mark Arnold, and her current club coach, Alan Shoenfeld, for their support.
