Obituary

Joe Harvey Dew

Joe Harvey Dew, 91, of Clinton passed away at his residence on Wednesday, June 17, 2026.

For nearly 64 years, Joe built a beautiful life alongside his beloved wife, Wilma, creating a legacy of love that extended far beyond their own home. Together, they embraced adventure, often traveling to the beach and gathering with friends under the stars on camping trips. These weren’t merely vacations; they were expressions of a couple who understood that life’s greatest treasures are the moments shared with those they loved.

A devoted man of faith, Joe accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior and became a member of South Clinton Baptist Church. He especially loved the story of Nicodemus in John 3, and like Nicodemus, Joe sought the Lord, found Him and now rests in His eternal presence.

Beyond the church doors, Joe’s character shone through his work ethic and dedication. For more than three decades, he worked for UPS as head maintenance technician, earning recognition that reflected his unwavering commitment to excellence. Locals could often find him fellowshipping with his neighbors at Ciderville Music and Hardee’s. He was a faithful listener of WYSH’s “Trading Time” and “Ask Your Neighbor.” He also enjoyed watching Westerns on Grit TV, but on game days, his loyalty belonged to Tennessee as he cheered on the Volunteers with the enthusiasm of a true fan.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 63 years, Wilma Dew; parents, Charles “Moss” Dew and Pauline Bayless Dew; brothers, Paul Edward Dew and Earl Dew; and sister-in-law, Maxine Dew.

Joe will be greatly missed by his son, Joseph Dew and wife Lori; daughters, Teresa Hillon and husband Frank, and Rita Dew-Ayers and husband Arnold; brother, Earnest Dew and wife Charlotte; grandchildren, Heatherlee, Whitney, Amberlee, Whitley and husband Andrew, Haley and Hannah; great-grandchildren, JT, Amiya, Kelsie and husband Joseph, John-Parker, Makynlee, Caden, Merritt and Archer; and several nieces, nephews, church family, UPS friends and camping friends.

The family received friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, June 22, 2026, at South Clinton Baptist Church. The funeral followed at 7 p.m. with Pastor Roger Pugh officiating. A graveside service was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at Woodhaven Memorial Gardens.

Holley-Gamble Funeral Home is proud to serve the Dew family.
