Earl Henderson Barton, 87, Norris, passed away Tuesday, April 23, 2019.
Born Aug. 29, 1931, to the late George and Lillian Barton, Earl was a member of First Baptist Church of Andersonville and Valley Masonic Lodge #383 in Andersonville. He was an Air Force veteran and retired from Union Carbide. He enjoyed coin collecting, metal detecting and ham radio.
Preceded in death by: Wife, Sue Barton; daughter, Susan Barton; and son, David Barton.
Earl is survived by: Children, Charles Thomas (Debbie) Barton, Robert Earl (Linda) Barton, Nancy Barton, and Gloria Heffron; grandchildren, Charmin Brooks, Doug Barton, Adam Barton, Rodney Jennings, Daniel Barton, Jonah Heffron, Jenny Heffron, Kyle Barton, and Cory Barton; great-grandchildren, Austin Brooks, Hailey Brooks, Kasidee Barton, Emily Barton, Maddie Barton, Andrew Barton, Audrey Barton, Lydia Barton, Gunnar Barton, Eli Jennings, Jaxson Jennings, and Brooklyn Heffron.
The family would like to thank the residents of Pine Road for being long lasting good neighbors and friends.

Nancy Sue Waddell, better known as, “Susie,” 71, Heiskell passed away Monday, April 22, 2019, at her home.
She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Susie loved everybody who knew her. She was a member of the Eastern Star. Susie loved gardening and was proud of her flowers she grew.
Susie was preceded in death by: Parents, Cary and Effie Hollifield; and her infant son, Jody Lee Waddell.
Susie is survived by: Husband, who had been her best friend all through their marriage of 51 years, Doc Waddell of Heiskell; sons, Tim Waddell and wife Tinalee of Clinton, Frank Waddell and wife Kristi of Heiskell; sister, Willie Mae “Snooky” Woods of Greenback; grandchildren, Connor, Kara, and Christopher; brother-in-law, Kenneth Waddell of Holden Beach, N.C.; sister-in-law, April Marcum of Knoxville; several nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Susie’s family received her friends from 1 – 3 p.m. Wednesday, April 24, 2019, in the chapel of Jones Mortuary with her celebration of life followed at 3 p.m. with the Amedisys Hospice Chaplains James and Matt officiating.
Her interment will followed her funeral service at the Bookwalter Cemetery in Knoxville.
Jones Mortuary in Clinton was in charge of all arrangements.
JOSEPHINE BRENDLE

Josephine Brendle, 90, Clinton, passed away April 21, 2019.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Clinton. Jo dearly loved her family and friends. She enjoyed playing the piano, belonging to the XYZ singing group, Timely Topics, Garden Club, and Birthday Bash group.
Jo was preceded in death by: Parents, Jess and Leta Wayman; and her husband of 61 years, Harold Brendle.
She is survived by: Son and daughter-in-law, Robin Brendle and Tammy Brendle of Knoxville; daughter and son-in-law, Dianne Home and Bob Home of Chicago, Ill.; grandchildren, Nick Brendle, and Allison McEntee and husband Patrick McEntee; and great-grandchildren Sally Rose, Ryan, and Harry McEntee.
Jo will be greatly missed, but will live forever in our hearts.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. – noon Friday, April 26, 2019, at Holly Gamble funeral home in Clinton, Tennessee. Services to follow.

The Rev. Bill Dawson, 75, went home rejoicing with his heavenly Father Easter Sunday, April 21, 2019.
He was born June 1, 1943, in Blount County to the late Edgar “Bud” and Laura Dawson. Bill served in the Army from 1964-1970. Bill pastored several churches in the Anderson County area for more than 30 years. The last church Bill pastored was Poplar Creek Baptist Church for 14 years. He was a faithful member of 2nd Baptist Church in Clinton. Bill worked for C.U.B. for 44 years with co-workers he considered family.
He was preceded in death by: Parents, Edgar “Bud” and Laura Dawson; brother, Jerry Dawson.
He is survived by: Loving wife and best friend of 54 years, Helen Dawson; daughter, Kim (Chris) Howell of Oak Ridge; son, Mark Dawson of Oak Ridge; grandchildren, Kristopher Bell of Clinton, Erik Howell of Oak Ridge; brother, Paul (Diane) Dawson of Lenoir City; sister, Barbara (Tim) Overstreet of Fort Worth, Texas; brother-in-law, Roger (Ella) Simmons of Clinton; many nieces and nephews; special friends, Ronnie Martin, Jason Tipton, and Nick Gallaher.
The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at Holley Gamble Funeral Home. His Celebration of Life service will follow in the chapel with the Rev. Michael Thompson, Paul Dawson, and Steve Dawson officiating.

ELLA RUTH FOUST

Ella Ruth Foust, 88, Lake City, passed away Saturday, April 20, 2019, at Courtyards Assisted Living Facility in Knoxville.
Ella Ruth was a lifelong member of Main Street Baptist Church. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. Most importantly, she was devout Christian who loved her church and her Bible. Ella was a homemaker and a retired Avon representative where she was distinguished President’s Club Member. Over the years, Ella Ruth loved to sing hymns with her late husband and soulmate, Venson Foust, with whom she was blissfully married for over 62 years. She also was known as a good cook who made the best fried potatoes and the best apple stack cakes in the entire world. Her favorite saying was, “You’re not the boss of me.” Ella loved chocolate ice cream, chocolate pudding, her bling and planting flowers.
Ella Ruth was preceded in death by: Husband, Venson Foust; parents, the Rev. Thomas Riley and Charity Duncan Douglas whom she loved dearly; brother, James Marion Douglas; sisters, Beatrice Apple, Evelyn Davis-Stinson, Anna Bell Morgan, Estelle Ballew and Margaret Inez Douglas.
Survivors: Sister, Irene Russell; sons, David Foust of Knoxville, Samuel Thomas Foust of Powell; daughter, Janie Ruth Johnson and Rick of Knoxville; grandchildren, Darren Foust and Heather of Clinton, Davida Beth Foust-Selvey and Roger of LaFollette, Joshua Adam Johnson and Chelsey of Knoxville, Allison Nicole Thomas of Knoxville, Andrew Thomas Foust of Nashville; great-grandchildren, Cole Foust, Carter Foust, Isaac Selvey, Tyler Selvey, and Ava Elizabeth Thomas; a host of special and loved nieces and nephews; special and devoted friends, Pauline Martin of Clinton, Barbara McNeeley of Claxton.

Gregory Paul Cox, 51, fell asleep with Jesus April 18, 2019.
He graduated from Clinton High School and Asbury College. He was a corporal in the USMC Special Forces. He was the Clinton High School band director in the 1990’s. He was a coffee roaster and served as an ordained minister of the Gospel at Crossroads Christ Fellowship in Claxton and Pearisburg Christ Fellowship in Pearisburg, Va.
He is preceded in death by his father, the Rev. Paul Cox.
He is survived by: Wife, Sabrena Cox; children, Rebekah, Logan (Maddi), and Anthony Cox; mother, Kathryn Cox; grandchildren, Samuel and Sadie Cox; brothers, Tony (Joy) Cox, Lynn (Linda) Cox.
The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 p.m. Monday, April 22, 2019, at Holley Gamble Funeral Home.
His funeral service will immediately follow in the chapel with Pastor Don Payne officiating.
His graveside will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 23, 2019, at Oak Ridge Memorial Park.

Joshua Duane Norman, also known by the nicknames Norman or Hemi, 29, Rocky Top, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, April 17, 2019.
He was born March 14, 1990, in Fort Riley, Kan.
He was preceded in death by: Great-grandfather Edward Sexton; maternal grandmother, Betty McCann; paternal grandfather, Ted Norman; paternal uncles, Johnny and Jimmy Norman; and beloved pet, Diesel.
Survived by: Son, Remington Arlis Norman; daughter, Aaliyah Nicole Dabney; mother, Debra Norman Lane and husband George; father, Timothy T. Norman and wife Sherry; siblings, Timothy L. Norman and wife Bobbi, Amanda Isabell and husband Dwight, Adam Norman; step-siblings, Rachel Keeling and Husband Jim, William Cashion, Kevin Lane and wife Nicole, Ricky Lane and wife Carrie, Jennifer Branam, Eric Branam and wife Kaitlyn, Madison Branam, Rachel Branam; paternal grandmother, Wilma Norman Gouge; maternal grandfather, Jerry McCann and wife Bonnie; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins; and his girlfriend, Zoe Sholtz and dog Shadow.
Joshua served in the United States Army, infantry division. He enjoyed spending time with friends and family. He was close to both parents and wanted to make them proud. He spent numerous summer days with his uncle Troy, his wife Sandy, and cousin Zach fishing, camping, and dancing. He also enjoyed time with his aunt Janet, her husband Ed, and cousin Michaela, spending time at Big Ridge Campground with them, reminiscing good times. He used to like going to Green Acres with Troy, Sandy, Zach, Sherry, Mamaw Norman to dance the night away. He always wanted to make sure who he was with was happy and having a good time. He would always have some type of comedy up his sleeve, be it impersonations, crazy dance skills, or his humorous thinking slipping out. He had a special love for oldies music and muscle cars, especially if it had a Hemi.
Receiving of family and friends to be held from 6 – 8 p.m. Monday, April 22, 2019, at Hatmaker Funeral Home, located at 503 South Main Street, Rocky Top.
The Funeral Service will follow the Receiving of family and friends with the Rev. Josh Hawkins officiating.
The Graveside service will be held at 5 p.m. Tuesday, April 23, 2019, at Byrd’s Chapel Allegheny, 11270 Yarnell Road, Knoxville, with Military Honors presented by the Campbell County Honor Guard. Family and friends wishing to follow in procession will meet at Hatmaker Funeral Home at 3:45 p.m. Tuesday, April 23, 2019.

ROBERT EDWARD LONG

Robert Edward Long, 56, Andersonville, passed away suddenly doing something for the ones he loved, Monday, April 15, 2019.
He was born in Lake City Aug. 1, 1962, to parents Jim and Jenny Mae Long. He grew up on the family farm with 10 brothers and sisters on Laurel Road and graduated from Clinton High School. He made a living as a contractor and farmer. His contracting career began at Evans Construction where he remained for many years, to his most recent employment at Hicks Construction, where he built many staples within the community from the Git N Go markets to the Anderson County Detention Center, as well as South Clinton Elementary School. He raised quarter horses for many years but most recently raised cattle at his farm in Andersonville. You would typically find him in the hay fields or driving around town in his red Ford flatbed. He was the hardest working man to ever grace this earth and cared deeply for his Family. He never knew a stranger and touched so many with his outgoing and infectious personality. To sum Robert up would take a book, but to keep it short he was the best you could find in a man in every way. From his belly laugh to his big bear hugs he could lift you up just being in his presence. Although most will remember him as a hard worker that was always on the go, his children will remember him as their hero. He lived his life for others in all things but most of all his family.
He was preceded in death by: Parents, Jim and Jenny Mae Long; sisters, Rosa Mae Brooks, Jackie Long Dyer and Janie Long Jones, all of Clinton.
His survivors include: Fiance, Miranda Murphy and son Keegan of Andersonville; daughter, Dawn (Chris) Lawson of Andersonville; daughter, Carrissa (Austin) Keathley of Oak Ridge; grandchildren, Hallie McClure and Brayden Lawson of Andersonville, Haiden Keathley of Oak Ridge; brother, Roger (Sharon) Long of Powell; brother, Nelson (Kathy) Long of Clinton; brother, Clifton (Christi) Long of Clinton; brother, James “Buddy” (Jean) Long of Charlestown, W. Va.; sisters, Cleo (Charlie) Robbins, Mary (Willard) Sprouse, Dorothy (Jerry) Brooks, all of Clinton; brother-in-law Frank Dyer of Lenoir City; many nieces, nephews and cousins; special friends; Kenneth Evans of Andersonville and family, Earl (Amy) Johnson of Heiskell and family.
Receiving of friends and family is scheduled for 6 – 8 p.m. Friday April 19, 2019, at Holley Gamble in Clinton. Procession is set for 10 a.m. Saturday, April 20, 2019, at Holley Gamble to interment at R.W. Long Cemetery to follow.
