Kathleen Walker, 84, passed away peacefully July 14, 2017.
She was born in Harriman Sept. 12, 1932, to the late John and Martha Walker. Kathy was a longtime member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church. Kathy was retired from Martin Marietta. She was an accomplished organist at several churches, St. Andrew’s, St. Stephen’s, and St. Thomas.
In addition to her parents, Kathy was preceded in death by: Brothers, Robert Kenneth Walker and Calvin Winston Walker; niece Martha Bridges.
Survived by: Sister, Nancy W. Carroll
; nephew, Alex Carroll and wife Tami
; niece, Cathy Freels and husband Doug
; nephew-in-law, Jake Bridges
; great-nieces and nephews, Lindsey Bridges (Travis), Lauren Ragland (Eric), Mitchell Bridges (Chris) and Bret Freels
; several great-great-nieces and nephews; and a host of other family and friends.
The family will have a memorial service at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Knoxville at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 29, 2017, with a reception to follow.

Edith Mae West, 59, Caryville, passed away Monday, July 17, 2017, at her residence.
Edith was born Nov. 7, 1957, in Campbell County to the late Jasper Byrge and Ellen Marie Duncan Byrge. She was a member of Midway Baptist Church in LaFollette. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, and watching westerns.
In addition to her parents, Edith was preceded in death by: Brothers, Coy, Jerry, James, and Billy Byrge; and sister, Patsy Fentress.
Survivors include: Husband, Gary West of Caryville; son, Ryan Addison West of Powell; stepson, Shayne West of Clinton; daughter, Jaspen Beth Daugherty of Lake City; brothers, Samuel Byrge of LaFollette, Jeffery Byrge of LaFollette; sisters, Cora Lee Burchfield of Caryville, Earlene Brittian of Clinton; grandchildren, Autumn Douglas, Octavia Jessie, Briann Roberts, Madison West, Riley West and Landon West; a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation was from 6 – 8 p.m. Thursday, July 20, 2017, at Hatmaker Funeral Home in Lake City.
Funeral service was at 8 p.m. Thursday, July 20, 2017, in the Hatmaker Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev.Jerry Seiber and the Rev. Charles Lawson officiating.
Family and friends met at 10:15 a.m. Friday, July 21, 2017, at Hatmaker Funeral Home in Lake City and went in procession to Foust Cemetery in Lake City for an 11 a.m. graveside service.

Christina Rose Thornton Burris, 36, Oliver Springs, passed away Thursday, July 6, 2017.
Christina was a loving mother of three children. She was a graduate of Anderson County High School. She also loved the outdoors and four-wheeling with her family.
She was preceded in death by: Brother, Rexie Wayne Patterson; grandparents, Billy and Christina Brown and Bill and Dollie Thornton; two uncles, Billy Marsh Brown and Wendell Ray Thornton; aunt, Mabel Ruth Thornton.
She is survived by: Children, Benjamin Shoopman, Riley Burris, and Angel “Rose” Burris; parents, Ben and Carolyn Thornton; husband, Bucky Burris; sister, Carolyn Patricia Byrd and husband Steve; brothers, Tom Patterson and wife Jessica, and Tailen Scott; nieces, Charissa Anne Daugherty and husband Cody, Stephanie Byrd; nephews, Ryan Byrd and Nathan Byrd; great-nieces, Iliana Daugherty and Alexandrea “Rose” Daugherty; a multitude of special cousins, great aunts and uncles and family and friends; also one great boyfriend, Jake from State Farm.

Donald Thomas Golden, 59, Clinton, passed away at his home early on the morning of June 27, 2017, while surrounded by his family.
Don was born in Memphis to the late John Preston and Fran Golden.
He was preceeded in death by: Parents; and his beloved brothers, Mike and Johnny.
He is survived by: Loving wife Joyce of Clinton; children, Donald Jr., Jessica, Amy, and a host of grandchildren he loved dearly; sisters, Michelle and Joy; brother, Tony; mother-in-law, Venia Burchfield,; sisters-in-law, Pauline, Linda, Susan, Connie, and Carolynn; several nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, and friends.
Don proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He was a long time member of the North Knoxville Seventh-day Adventist Church and accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior. Don loved music, especially playing the guitar, and he loved to cook. He was a friend to all who met him, and will be sadly missed by all who were lucky enough to know him.
A celebration of Don’s life will be announced at a later time.

Michael Gran, 57, Clinton, passed away Friday, July 7, 2017, at his residence.
Michael was born Dec. 7, 1959, in Chicago, Ill.
He was preceded in death by: Father, Edwin Gran; stepfather, Bernardo Rivera; grandparents, Howard and Mildred Ehret, and Earl and Ruth Gran.
He is survived by: Wife, Sharon Gran; mother, Mildred Gran; sisters, Debra Copeland and husband Ken, Donna King and husband Phil; nephews, Phillip King Jr. and wife Erin, Kevin King and wife Lindsey; stepson, Dustin Johnson.
The family will receive friends from 6 – 7 p.m. Thursday, July 13, 2017, at Holley Gamble Funeral Home.
His memorial service will follow in the chapel with Pastor Peyton Wills officiating.

ANNA BESS CANNON HAMMOCK

Anna Bess Cannon Hammock passed away Tuesday, July 4, 2017, in Lookout Mountain, Ga.
She was born Aug. 3, 1916, to Newt Cannon and Mary Ward Cannon in Hickman County in western Kentucky. The first of three girls, she graduated from Shiloh High
and attended Murray State University, graduating in 1938. She then worked to send her two younger sisters to college. Marci became a physician and Nell a chemist at Oak Ridge.
Bess worked as a Red Cross representative and later in an administrative position for the Kentucky State Farm Owners. During World War II she applied to be a WAC but didn’t meet the requirements. Instead, she and three friends took their gas rations
and drove to California.
In 1951 she married Lon Hammock, with whom she remained crazy in love for the rest of her life.
Bess is survived by two children, Jim (Susan) and Mary (Robert). Jim lives and works in Atlanta and Mary is a physician in Chattanooga.
Bess is also survived by three loving grandchildren, Ryan (Lane), Tyler and Molly and two great-grandchildren, Olivia and Walker.
Special cousins are Robin and Laura Lee and their mother, Jeanette.
Bess earned a Master’s degree from the University of Tennessee and taught Home Economics at Clinton High School for decades. She was the proud recipient of the 1981 Teacher of the Year award by the Tennessee Home Economics Association. She was loved by her students for an accepting attitude and for the inspirational messages that she wrote daily on her blackboard.

Visitation was from 5 – 7 p.m. Friday, July 7, 2017, at Holley Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton.
A funeral service, presided by Gene Richardson and Thomas Sweet, followed.
Her burial was at Daniel Memorial Cemetery in Helenwood on Saturday, July 8, 2017.

Ross “Hap” Kellis Happney, 78, Clinton passed away at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge Sunday, July 2, 2017.
He was born in West Virginia to the late David and Clara Rodgers Happney. Hap was an avid farmer who enjoyed raising his cattle and also loved blueberry picking and fishing.
He was preceded in death by: Parents; and siblings, Manuel, Cecil, Bobby, and Eula.
He is survived by: Loving wife of almost 59 years, Linda Truman Happney; children, Sherri and husband Donnie Scruggs of Clinton, Russ Happney and wife Becky of Clinton, and Doug Happney and wife Angie of Prattville, Ala.; grandchildren, Kelli, Wayne, Adam, Patience, Zach, Jamie, Lexy, and Seth; great-grandchildren, Elijah, Wyatt, Hayden, Anna, Ryder, and Mason; sisters and brother in West Virginia, Dora, Irene and Maxine and Mark; and countless other family members and friends.
Hap chose cremation with no services to be held.

ROBERT CARROLL HUTCHINS

Robert Carroll Hutchins, 92, Clinton, passed away Wednesday, July 5, 2017.
He was born Oct. 27, 1924, in Knoxville to the late Hobert and Bess Piatt Hutchins. R.C. was a member of the First Baptist Church in Clinton. He was a veteran having served in World War II in the United States Air Force. R.C. graduated from the University of Tennessee with a degree in electrical engineering and later retired from Martin Marietta. R.C. was a past member of the Clinton City School Board and a City Councilman. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, woodworking, and gardening.
In addition to his parents, R.C. was preceded in death by: Brother, Jack Hutchins; and sisters, Evelyn Cox and Doris Webber.
Survived by: Loving wife of 67 years, Joan Beeler Hutchins; son, Byron Scott Hutchins; daughter, Julia Hutchins Spradling; grandsons, Michael Scott Hutchins and wife Trilla, Christopher Todd Spradling; brother-in-law, Don Mynatt
; several nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends.
The family received friends from 12:30 – 2 p.m. Saturday, July 8, 2017, at Holley Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton with the funeral service following at 2 p.m. with the the Rev. Daryl Cox and the Rev. Terry Baker officiating. R.C.’s interment followed at Grandview Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Pat Head Summitt Foundation.
