JESSE TILDEN (J.T.) BRADEN

Jesse Tilden (J. T.) Braden, 88, known as “Ole Man” by his coworkers, went to be with The Lord Jan. 19, 2022, after a short illness.

He was a longtime member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church where he was ordained as deacon in 1962. He was also later ordained as deacon at First Baptist Church in Clinton. He was most recently a member of Second Baptist Church in Clinton.

J. T. enlisted in to the National Guard as a member of the 191st Field Artillery Battalion in 1950. He served at Fort Devens, Mass., and Fort Drum, N.Y., in support of the Korean War until 1952. He then worked as a machinist at Y-12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, beginning in 1953 and retiring in 1995. He was also a longtime member of Grand Lodge #480 of the International Association of Machinists & Aerospace Workers.

J. T. was a quiet, soft spoken, and gentle man who loved hiking in the Great Smoky Mountains with his friends. He also enjoyed working on his farm, solving word puzzles, and spending time with his family. He especially loved hanging out with his grandson Nate who he always thought of as the “apple of his eye”.

J. T. is survived by: Wife and childhood sweetheart, Carolyn Spessard Braden; son, Jerome (Jerry) Braden and wife Janice Braden; son, Nathan Braden; grandson, Nathan (Nate) Braden and wife Courtney Braden; brother, Robert (Bob) Braden; brother, James (Buddy) Braden and wife Betty Braden; sister, Mary Nelle Carden; sister, Janie Irwin; and several other nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by: Parents, Jesse Braden and Ruby Moore Braden; brother, Jack Braden; sister, Barbara Irwin; and sister, Virginia Irwin.

Special thanks to the people who cared for him during his illness — Meadow View Senior Living and The Lantern at Morning Pointe Alzheimer’s Center of Excellence.

The family will receive family and friends at Holley Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton from 1 – 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 23, 2022, with funeral services to follow.

A graveside service will be held at Woodhaven Memorial Garden in Claxton immediately following the funeral service.

How do you sum up a lifetime of memories and accomplishments in a few short words? That’s an impossible feat when describing my Dad.

Dad, you were one special guy and you will always be in my heart. Hope you’re enjoying Heaven and having fun dancing with all the angels. Give mamaw and papaw a great big kiss and hug for me. I love you always. Your little girl.

George Dennis Beason is survived by: Wife of 53 years, Carolyn Sue Ezell Beason; daughter, April Dawn Beason-McGuire (Fredrick McGuire); granddaughter, Priscilla Haddock (Chris Farmer); sisters, Gladys Hankins (Bobby Hankins) and Shirley Clowers (the late Ralph Clowers); sisters-in-law, Juanita Davis (the late Lewis Davis), Kay Stokes, Brenda Williams (Burl Williams), Darlene Simonds (Mike Simonds), Elizabeth Yarber (Dewy Yarber), Martha Beason; and brother-in-law, Leon Ezell; nieces and nephews, Burl Williams, Misty Williams, Monique Gordon, Melissa Aaron, Cinnamon Kennedy, Chris Simonds, Cody Yarber, Joey Beason, Susan Clark, Lisa Arbuckle, Rodney Beason, Jeff Beason, Debbie Wade,; and a host of great and great-great-nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by: Mother, Edith (Watts) Beason, and father George Beason; father and mother-in-law, Roy Ezell and Marie Foust; siblings, Samuel “Chuck” Beason (Nell Beason), Thurman “Buddy” Beason (Shirley Beason), Charles “Biggen’’ Beason, Mary “Sis” Reed (Bill Reed), and Kenny Beason; nieces, Victoria Delaney, Kristen Courtney, and Tammy Clowers; nephews, Greg Stokes and Jerry Reed; and his favorite dog, Scooby.

A celebration of life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes donations be made to the charity of your choice.

TIMOTHY 'TIM' LYNN ROBBIN

Timothy "Tim" Lynn Robbins, 58, Lake City, went to be with the Lord Friday, March 26, 2021, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.

Tim was born in LaFollette to late James E. "Bill" and Dorothy Mae Johnson Robbins on May 13, 1962. Tim worked for Carlisle Tire for many years. He also served as a volunteer firefighter for 24 years. Tim was a member of Temple of Christ Baptist Church in Lake City. He loved working on tractors, gardening, deer hunting, his puppies, and spending time with his family. His family was his world.

In addition to his parents, Tim was preceded in death by: Sister, Teresa Robbins Wolford; sister-in-law, Linda Robbins; and brother-in-law, Thurman "Dusty" Carroll.

Survivors: Son, Jeffrey and Devainne Robbins of Clinton; daughter, Danielle Ridenour and Jonathan of Lake City; children he raised as his own, Aaron and Jancie Adkins of Caryville, Austin Adkins of Lake City, Gatlin McCoy of Andersonville; brother, Mikey Robbins of Lake City; sister, Betty Carroll of Lake City; grandchildren, Kendra Ridenour and Tatium Ridenour, Kaden Robbins and Bristol Robbins; best friend, J.R. Bridges.

Visitation was from 2 – 4 p.m. Tuesday, March 30, 2021, at Hatmaker Funeral Home in Lake City.

Funeral service was at 4 p.m. Tuesday, March 30, 2021, in the Hatmaker Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Chris Jobe officiating.

A graveside service followed the funeral service Tuesday, March 30, 2021, at Oak Grove Cemetery in Lake City.

DELORES K. TILLMAN

Delores K. Tillman, 82, Oak Ridge, passed away Jan. 5, 2021, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge after a brief battle with COVID-19.

She was born Sept. 1, 1938, in Middlesboro, Ky. She lived in Louisville, Ky., for many years before moving to the Clinton and Oak Ridge Area. Delores will be sadly missed by all. She will be especially remembered for the way she gave so selflessly for her family.

Delores was preceded in death by: Husband, Robert Tillman Sr.; sons, David, Robert Jr., Vincent, and Albert Tillman III; brothers, Lewis Marcum of Middleboro, Ky., and Roy Marcum of Clinton; and great-granddaughter, Julia Laverdure of Knoxville.

Survivors include: Daughter, Margaret Estes and husband James of Oak Ridge; grandson, Thomas Estes and wife April of Oak Ridge; granddaughter, Meaghan Laverdure and husband Ricky of Knoxville; great-grandchildren, Zoey, Luca, Lilah, and Darla; brothers, Joe Marcum, Mike Marcum and wife Shirley, Bobby Marcum and wife Helen, Richard Marcum; sisters, Sue Teaque, Kaye Marcum; sisters-in-law, Bobbie Marcum of Clinton, and Agnes Marcum of Middlesboro, Ky.; and many nieces and nephews.

There will be a Funeral Mass at 11:30 a.m. July 17, 2021, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 327 Vermont Ave., Oak Ridge, followed by graveside service at 1 p.m. at Oak Ridge Memorial Park.

MAXINE RUTH LOWE

Maxine Ruth Lowe, 89, Clinton, travelled to her Heavenly home Tuesday, May 11, 2021.

Maxine will be remembered as a kind, gentle, and generous person. Her family describes her as a loyal and faithful woman. She was known for cooking for families and friends during times of grievances; she was always willing to help. Maxine was a lover of the Lord and of flowers. She was a housewife who raised seven children and also cleaned a local church for several years before her passing. She felt like that was a way for her to give back to her community, and most importantly, to serve the Lord. She will be deeply missed by her family.

She was preceded in death by: Parents, Frederick Giles and Alberta Steele; husband, Garrett Lowe; brothers, Jack, Frank, Wayne, Joseph, Doug, and Troy Giles; sisters, Betty Wilcox, Lucille Jones, and Patricia Parrott.

She is survived by: Son, Gary Lowe of Clinton; daughters, Annette Steakley of Clinton, Judy Brown (Randy) of Rutledge, Sheba Tipton (Bob) of Knoxville, Jan Ooten (Carl) of Clinton, Diane Parks (James) of Lake City, and Sonya Hatfield (Jody) of Jacksboro; brothers, Charles and Sam Giles; grandchildren, Kimberly, Michael, Tracy, Gary Lee, Chanel, Donnie, Michael, Victoria, Nickie, Justin, Brittnee, and Matthew; along with 20 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Receiving of friends was held in the Chapel of Jones Mortuary from 11 a.m. – noon Thursday, May 13, 2021, with a funeral service following.

The Rev. Jason Goins officiated.

Interment was held at Anderson Memorial Gardens shortly after the funeral service Thursday, May 13, 2021.

LANA OVERTON RUSSELL

Lana Overton Russell, 76, Clinton, passed away Thursday, May 13, 2021, at her residence surrounded by her family.

Lana was born Jan. 6, 1945, in Anderson County to the late Paul and Ella Overton. Lana enjoyed her years of retirement and enjoyed spending time at Mother’s Day Out at Second Baptist Church, crocheting, sewing, quilting, painting, but most of all spending time and finding new adventures with her family.

She is survived by: Husband, Odell Russell; daughters, Mechelle Ramsey and husband Mike of Oak Ridge, Christy Cunningham and husband Lance of Knoxville, Stephanie Fagan of Clinton, and Brandi Irwin and husband Scott of Clinton; grandchildren, Cori Williams and husband Jared, Taylor Ramsey, Christopher Sharpe, Gwyneth Fagan, Olivia Irwin and Savannah Irwin; great-grandchildren, Jonah Williams and Michael Williams; sister, Barbara Davis and husband Frank of Clinton; brother, Tim Overton of Clinton; several nieces and nephews

The family received friends from 5 – 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 18, 2021, with a celebration of life service following.

SONJA 'JANE' DAKE

Sonja “Jane” Dake, 76. Heiskell, passed away at her home May 13, 2021.

She was a member of Heiskell United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by: Husband Bill Dake; parents, Robert E Viles and Grace Viles Astalos.

She is survived by: Daughter, Lisa Dake,of Heiskell; son, William Dake and wife Melanie; and grandson, Brandon Dake of Lake City; brother, Gary Viles of Memphis

Friends and family gathered for a graveside service at 2 p.m. Sunday May 16, 2021, at Piney Grove Baptist Church in Heiskell.

SAM H. JONES

Sam H. Jones, 64, Clinton, passed away suddenly Thursday, May 13, 2021.

He was born in Rielasingen, Germany, Oct. 30, 1956. Sam was a graduate of Clinton Senior High and Jacksboro Vocational School.

He ran his own landscaping and tree removal business for more than 35 years where he developed friendships with many of his clients.

He attended the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Clinton.

Sam had a great love of history and enjoyed learning throughout his life. Watching sports on tv was one of his favorite things to do, especially tennis and golf. He was a person who loved nature's beauty and all animals especially his two cats.

Sam loved fishing and long rides scouting out the next best fishing spot.

Sam was preceded in death by: Parents, Clyde and Adelheid Jones; and brother, Michael.

He is survived by: Sisters, Susann Jones, Rose and Mike Hutson, Tammy Jones and Douglas Stewart, Judy Jones-Gillett; and brother, Steven Jones; aunts, Elizabeth Jones and Martha Hopper who he considered his other sisters.

Sam was a wonderful son and brother. He was our gentle but fierce protector always ready to lend A helping hand. We will cherish his memories until we have the blessing of seeing him again. Rest dear brother and be at peace.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 20, 2021, at Oliver Springs Cemetery with Mike Heath, Minister at Clinton Kingdom Hall, presiding.
