JoeAnn Reynolds Alley

JoeAnn Reynolds Alley, 85, of Clinton, Tennessee, was called from long-suffering into the arms of her Heavenly Father on March 29, 2024, while at home.

She was born April 26, 1938, in Black Mountain (Kenvir), Kentucky, to Dewey and Edna Reynolds.

JoeAnn was a 1956 graduate of Evarts High School, Evarts, Kentucky. She began her early adult years working as a telephone operator for BellSouth in Dayton, Ohio, and later in Clinton, Tennessee, where she met and married Wayne Alley, her loving husband of just under 64 years.

JoeAnn was a devoted wife and exceptionally caring mother and she was best known for her unwavering spirit. In her free time, she enjoyed sewing, crocheting and reading. JoeAnn was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Clinton, where she taught Sunday School, faithfully served refreshments during Vacation Bible School, and was a choir member.

She is survived by her husband, Wayne Alley, son Kevin Alley (Angela), daughters Tracy, Angie and Christy Alley, granddaughter Katelyn Alley Shetterly (Nick), great-grandchildren Brody James Shetterly and Charleston Kate Shetterly, numerous nieces, nephews, and a loyal sister-in-law, Mary Jane Alley.

JoeAnn was preceded in death by her parents Dewey and Edna Reynolds, brother Paul Reynolds and sister Mildred Reynolds McPeek and Kathleen Reynolds Takacs.

Friends may visit with the family beginning at 10 a.m. until the start of the funeral service at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 4, 2024, at Bethel Baptist Church, 610 Bethel Road, Clinton.

The graveside service will follow at the Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery with Pastors David Seiber and Darryl Taylor officiating.

Randle Scott Bolinger

Randle Scott Bolinger, 76, of Clinton, Tennessee, passed away on Friday, March 29, 2024, at his sister’s home.

Scott was of the Baptist faith.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his grandson, and working cattle with his son.

He also enjoyed watching wrestling and Westerns, and spending time with his dog, Jack. Scott was retired from Secret City Dodge.

He was born Dec. 25, 1947, in Clinton to Luther and Obedis Weber Bolinger.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Celda Marie Bolinger; daughter, Janice Hunley; brothers, Thurman, Horace and Edward Bolinger; sisters, Magdalene Ward and Alma McClure.

Scott is survived by son, Jeffrey Bolinger Sr. and wife Vicky; daughter, Melinda Walker and husband Mark all of Rocky Top, Tennessee; grandchildren, Erika Wilson and husband Taylor, Balie, Jeffrey Jr., whom he thought of as a son, and Lezleigh Bolinger, all of Rocky Top; Rusty Queener (Chelsea) of Claxton, Brady Walker (Allie) of Powell and Jarrett Walker and wife Hannah of Utah; great-grandchildren, Waverly and Aubrey Wilson, Opal and Owen Bolinger, Zara Bolinger, Easton Queener, Emorie and Paxton Walker and a great-grandson on the way; sisters, Freddie Queener and husband Jimmy; loving sister, special friend, and special care givers, Reba Pyle and husband Roger all of Clinton, Hazel Brannon and husband Lowell, Fay Walker and husband Michael all of Alabama; brothers, Ruben Bolinger and wife Mary Ann of Alabama, H.D. Bolinger and wife Irene of Michigan; special friend, David Queener, and several nieces and nephews. Special thanks to Hospice.

The Bolinger family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, from 5 p.m. until time of the funeral at 7 p.m. in the Jones Mortuary chapel in Clinton, Tennessee, with the Rev. Justin Howard officiating.  

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 4, 2024 in the Bolinger Family Cemetery.

John Oscar Snodgrass

In the first hour of Thursday, March 28, John Oscar Snodgrass quietly passed away while holding the hand of his eldest daughter.

He was 81 years old. He had recently undergone surgery and had been fighting several chronic illnesses.  

He is survived by his wife, Mavis Moore Snodgrass, and three daughters, Lisa R.S. Kistler, Tina Marie Richards and husband Jez, and Gina Darlene Snodgrass; grandchildren, Jack Richards, Davis Richards, Kailen Kistler, Casey Kistler and Anna-Marie ABodholdt.  

He was preceded in death by his parents Clive “Butch” Snodgrass and Helen Maloyed Snodgrass.  

John served his country in the Air Force during the Vietnam War.  He worked in sales for 16 years for US Plywood/Champion Building Products, where he earned many awards and accolades.  

He then made his dream come true by starting his own company, Salvage and Building Materials, in 1988 in Clinton, Tennessee.  

He married his high school sweetheart and they lived happily together for 63 years.  

He liked nothing better than telling people about his beautiful wife, whom he married two days after his 19th birthday. His eyes would sparkle when he spoke of her.

He was a diehard Tennessee Vols fan but attended Emory & Henry College.  He transferred to Virginia Tech his sophomore year. In his junior year, he enlisted  in the Air Force to serve his country.  

After the war, he graduated from ETSU just before the birth of his third daughter, who was born on his birthday.  

Although the last years of his life were marked with pain, he rarely complained and would say that each day was “the best day ever.” 

He had many friends and will be remembered by how much he loved his wife, his family, his friends and his company, and how he worked to make his dreams come true.

Juanita Diana Rose

Juanita Diana Rose, 71, of Knoxville, Tennessee, and formerly of Clinton, Tennessee, passed away on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at the North Knoxville Medical Center.

She was a member of the Piney Grove Baptist Church.

 Jaunita was born on Sep. 27, 1952, in Knoxville. She was the daughter of the late Andrew Hamock Sr. and Grace Fraker Hamock.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters Gladys Ridener and Eloise Phillips; and brothers Doug Hamock, Raymond Hamock, Donny Hamock and Andrew Hamock Jr.

Juanita is survived by her daughter, Tracy Massengill of Knoxville, and son, Travis Stahlhood of Knoxville; brothers, the Rev. Roy Hamock and wife Bernice of Knoxville, and the Rev. James Hamock and wife Judy of Heiskell, Tennessee; sister Leona Williams of Rocky Top, Tennessee; grandchildren, Jade Sliger, Avlyn Sliger and Isaiah Bills, and many other relatives and friends, nieces and nephews.

Juanita’s family received friends on Monday, April 1, 2024, from 1 p.m. until time of the funeral at 2 p.m. in the Jones Mortuary chapel, with the Rev. James Hamock officiating.

A graveside service followed in the Piney Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

James Ray West

James Ray West, 68, of Lake City passed away March 26, 2024, at the University of Tennessee Medical Center.

James was born in New River on May 7, 1955, to Melvin and Evelyn Bunch West.

James was a stone mason.

He loved God first and foremost, and knew his Bible.

James loved fishing, motorcycles, the mountains, the ocean, drawing, and spending time with his grandbabies and family.

In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by brothers Paul West and Noble West; and sister, Wanda West. 

He is survived by his wife, Patty Breeden; step daughters, Kim and Daniel Daugherty of Caryville, Samantha Breeden and James of Galveston, TX and Ashley Breeden of Clinton; brother, Archie and Barbara West of Clinton; sister, Opal West of Clinton; grandchildren, Zachary Hall, Victoria Daugherty, Kaden Auzton, and Olivia Daugherty; nieces and nephews, Hubert, Eric, and Angela Green, Ray Ward, Benny West, Misty Argo and children Logan and Alex Argo, Vanita Early and Shawn, Sierra West; and best friend, Lonnie Goodman.

Visitation was held from 2-4 p.m, Monday, April 1, 2024, at the Hatmaker Funeral Home in Lake City.

The funeral followed at 4 p.m. in the Hatmaker Funeral Home chapel.

Claude E Helton

Claude E Helton, 87, passed away on March 22, 2024. He was born in Knoxville, Tennessee, on Dec. 9, 1936, to Luther and Ima Jean (Mircle) Helton.

Claude was the founder, owner, and operator of Clinch Valley Auto Parts for more than 50 years.

He and his wife, Anna, enjoyed fishing and being outdoors. She preceded him in death on Nov. 22, 2020.

He is survived by his son, Phillip Helton (Sylvia Wilbanks); sister-in-law Alice Helton; and two nieces, Karen Brooks and Sherile King.

Also preceding him in death was a grandson, Kevin Dwayne Helton.

A memorial service was held at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home on Monday, April 1, 2024, at 3 p.m.

Friends visited with the family at 2 p.m. at the funeral home.

Watson G. Drinkwater, III

Watson G. Drinkwater III, 82, of Clinton passed away at his residence on Friday, March 22, 2024. He was born June 12, 1941, in Norfolk, VA to the late Watson and Frances Drinkwater. Watson retired from K-25 as a mechanical instrument mechanic after 24 years of service and was a veteran of the United States Coast Guard. Throughout his life, he loved farming and was an avid outdoorsman.

He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Shelby Drinkwater of Clinton; son, Richard Drinkwater of AZ; sisters, Sharon Jarvis and husband Dale of VA, and Denise Milburn of NC; sister-in-law, Carol Lucas of VA; and several nieces and nephews.

Bonnie Jean Dagley

Bonnie Jean Dagley, 91, passed away peacefully at Methodist Medical Center on March 19, 2024.

Born in Memphis, TN on Sep. 29, 1932, to Hiley Alexander and Flora Bell Smith. Bonnie is preceded in death by husband Vernon Eugene (Gene) Dagley and brothers James and Howard.

Bonnie is survived by sons, Wade, Douglas and Terry; brother, Donald; sister-in-law, Patsy; nephew, Todd; niece, Donna; six grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

Bonnie and Gene were married in 1952, eventually settling in Clinton in 1962. She was a stay at home mom until all her children left home, then spent 27 years employed at Methodist Medical Center Oak Ridge, admissions department.

The family will received friends on Sunday, March 24, 2024, from 5-6 p.m. and the funeral followed at Holly Gamble Funeral Home, Clinton, TN.

Bonnie was laid to rest Monday, March 25, 2024, at 1 p.m. at Norris Memorial Gardens.
