SHIRLEY C. BYRGE

Shirley C. Byrge, Graves Gap, crossed over Jorden singing the praising of the Lord Saturday, Feb. 5, 2022.

She was born Oct. 30, 1946, in Clinchmore, at a mining camp to Dewey and Marie Wright Duncan. The Lord loaned us one of his angels for a while complete with his understanding, his love, and his smile. Her passion was singing at church. She was a member of Graves Gap Baptist Church, where she was the church clerk for 45 years. Also the first couple to ever be married at the church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: Husband, the Rev. Donnie Hugh Byrge; son, Donald E. Byrge; granddaughter, Susan Lynn Byge; sister, Debra Jean Duncan; brothers, Terry Chelma Duncan, Robert Lee “Bob” Duncan, Clay Duncan; father and mother-in-law, Jesse Byrge and Aline Brown Byrge.

She leaves behind: Children, John David Byrge, Jesse Byrge III, and Matthew Israel Byrge; granddaughters, Melinda Hope Stagnolia, Amber Faith Byrge, Leah Charity Byrge; grandson, Jacob Peyton Byrge; great-granddaughter, Stephanie Stagalia; sisters, Maxine Lutner of Lake City, Sue Price of Keauy, Ky., Pat Ford of Knoxville, Ava Yocum of Andersonville, Charlene Mobley and Charlotte Duncan, both of Knoxville; sisters-in-law, Louise Byrge, Fannie Byrge, both of Lake City, and Nadine Braden of Briceville.

She also leaves behind her amazing church family and a multitude of extended family and friends.

Shirley had some very difficult challenges and became a source of strength and inspiration for her family. She would want them to remain steadfast and strong, and not lose heart. ‘There are moments on mountaintops and moments in deep valleys’, but life is beautiful and worthwhile.

Friends may visit with the Byrge family from beginning at noon Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2022, at Graves Gap Baptist Church, Briceville, until the time of service at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Lonnie Lowe and Bro. Wayne McBurnnett officiating.

Interment will follow the funeral service at the church cemetery.

JIMMY D. BAILEY

Jimmy D. Bailey, 75, Oliver Springs, passed away peacefully at his home Saturday morning Feb. 5, 2022, after courageously battling cancer.

He was born June 26, 1946, in LaFollette to General Lee and Robbie Sue (McDeerman) Bailey.

Jimmy married the love of his life, Vicki J. (Humphrey) Bailey, Dec. 15, 1969, in Andersonville. Together Jimmy and Vicki lovingly welcomed their two children: Boyd Lee Bailey wife Paula Rose Bailey and Becky Jane Bailey Shelton husband Bryan Todd Shelton; five grandchildren, Jacob Owen, Bryant Bailey, Jonathan Bailey, Timothy Bailey and Grace Shelton; and great-granddaughter, Mercy Jane Wilcox.

He served with the United States Navy 1964 to 1970, continuing his service in the Naval Reserves. Jimmy served multiple tours in Vietnam, earned two bronze stars and four additional service medals.

Jimmy retired from the Department of Energy Facility Y-12 after 30 years of dedicated service. Previously serving eight years with the City of Oak Ridge Fire Department.

He earned his private pilot’s license in 1980 under the instruction of the late Guy M. Jones. Jimmy loved spending his days flying, boating and fishing with his family.

Jimmy was preceded in death by: Parents, General Lee and Robbie Sue (McDeerman) Bailey; brother, Bobby L. Bailey; sisters, Mary Bailey Woods, Debra Bailey Reesor; brother-in-law, Michael R. Humphrey.

Survived by: Brothers, Billy R. Bailey, Johnny W. Bailey; sisters, Patricia Hope Bailey Lloyd (Clarence), Linda S. Bailey Rosenbalm (Wendell); brother-in-law, Joseph T. Humphrey; sisters-in-law, Kathy Langston (David), Terri Jo Humphrey, Rosemary Cox (Rudy).

He will be lovingly missed by a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.

PATRICK GRAVES

Patrick Graves, 41, Clinton, passed away Saturday, Feb. 5, 2022, at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born in Oak Ridge March 28, 1980, to Lanny and Joyce Rucker Graves. Patrick was a member of Norris First Baptist Church. His true passions were soccer and family.

Our hearts are broken loosing Patrick so young. We are comforted to know that he is with Jesus, no longer in pain and we have precious memories.

Patrick was preceded in death by: Father, Lanny Graves; grandparents, Margrie Cole Brooks, Walter Rucker, J.C. and Bonnie Fraker Graves; aunt, Kathy Graves; nephew, Jason Hatmaker.

Survived by: Mother, Joyce Rucker Graves; sister, Megin Graves Hatmaker; aunt, Sheila Atchley (Brian); nephews, Alexander and Spenser Hatmaker; son-in-law, Timothy Hatmkaer; cousins, Haley and Colton Atchley.

KATHERINE S. HAWKINS ANDRONICK

Kathrine S. Hawkins Andronick, 83, passed away Jan. 27, 2022, in Brandon, Manitoba, Canada, where she has resided for 59 years.

Kathy was born May 21, 1938, to Dave and Nancy Heatherly Hawkins of Lake City. She graduated for Lake City High School.

She was preceded in death by: Husband, Harry Andronick of Brandon; parents and grandparents of Tennessee; brothers, Norris, Jerry Lee, Donnie Ray, Ronnie Mac of Lake City, Lloyd of Knoxville; sisters and brothers-in-law, Claudine and Frank Manning of Spring City, Mary Sue and Bobby Grant of Lake City, and Lily Mae Hawkins of Lake City; nephew, Mark Manning of Spring City; niece, Carrie Ann Hawkins of Lake City; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; niece and nephew of the Andronick family in Ontario and B.C. Canada.

Kathy is survived by: Daughter, Tammy and Ron Borus; son, Chris and Lesley Andronick; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, all of the Brandon area; sisters, Faye and Curtis Cooper of Fountain Inn, S.C., Geneva and Ronnie Norton of Lake City, Cherry and Paul (Pat) Lane of Clinton; a host of niece and nephews and great-nieces and nephews from the Hawkins family of Tennessee and South Carolina.

Kathy’s family in Brandon will hold a private celebration of life and her Tennessee family will honor her at their next family dinner.

AMELIA BETH PIERCE

Amelia Beth Pierce, 54, passed away, Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2022, at her home.

She was born June 15, 1967, in Tryon, N.C. Amelia was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church where she served as the nursery supervisor for more than 25 years, something she took great pride in. Amelia attended Mars Hill University, where was president of the Sigma Alpha Chi sorority, the University of Tennessee, and Lincoln Memorial University, where she earned her doctorate. She taught in the Roane County School system for the past 20 years and was a former cheerleading coach at Oliver Springs High School. She was a loving wife, mother, and friends who will be dearly missed.

Amelia was preceded in death by: Beloved daughter, Ellie Jackson; parents, J.B. Easlic and Dorothy Campbell; uncle, Francis Morrow; and aunt, Helen Morrow.

Survivors include: Husband, Danny Pierce; son, Jacob Jackson; stepmother, Linda Easlic; brother, Paul Easlic and wife Kamela; stepbrother, Danny Garrison; nephew, Nolan Easlic; niece, Danielle Gomez; and great-niece, Caroline Martin; as well as many friends and loved ones.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made by mail to the Ellie Jackson Memorial Scholarship Fund at 325 Gum Street Oliver Springs, TN 37840.

The family will receive friends 5-7 pm Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2022, at Weatherford Mortuary.

A funeral mass will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2022, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Father Pontian Kiyimba officiating.

DIETRA 'POOH' ROCHELLE GALLAHER

Dietra “Pooh” Rochelle Gallaher departed this life Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2022, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.

Dietra graduated from Clinton High School in 1994 and throughout her life she enjoyed gardening, cooking, taking care of her dog, Max “Noodle Pup,” caring for others as a CNA but most of all spending time with her family and friends. Dietra’s family and friends will remember her as being the life of the party.

She was preceded in death by: Parents, Anna and James Griffin; grandmothers, Margaret Griffin and Ethel Hill; sisters, Dionne and Elisa Griffin; aunt, Ruby Griffin; uncles, Ronnie Hill and Eugene Gallaher, and William Griffin.

She is survived by: Her legacy of two daughters, Jasmine and Rejah; son, Zyland; sisters, Jackie and husband Dwayne McClanahan, Lakaisha, Anna “Net” and Lenaka; brothers, Mark, Terry and wife Roxie, and Carmon; aunts, Henrietta Caldwell, Georgia Reed, Jackie Hill, Willie and husband Leonard, Mattie Gallaher; uncles, James Hill, the Rev. William Caldwell Jr., and Paul Griffin; common mother-in-law, Janet Allen; host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

The family will receive friends from noon – 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 3, 2022, at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church.

Her funeral service will follow with the Rev. Harold Middlebrook officiating her service and the Rev. Ernest Scruggs reading the eulogy.

JOHNNIE RENEE HATMAKER

Johnnie Renee Hatmaker, 50, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2022.

Johnnie was first and foremost a wonderful, loving mother who loved her church and her family. She has been a devoted wife to Daniel Hatmaker for more than 30 years. She was a member of Sequoyah Missionary Baptist Church in Andersonville. Johnnie has dedicated more than 20 years of service to Covenant Health as a senior help desk analyst. Johnnie loved the Lord, and she had a heart of gold. In the last couple of years, she has fought a long and difficult battle with health issues, but no matter how sick she was, you could always find her smiling. She was truly a “fighter.” Johnnie will be remembered for her intelligence and her witty sense of humor and will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing this sweet lady.

She is preceded in death by: Father, Wendell Reavley; son, Joseph Daniel Hatmaker; sister-in-law, Marie Riggs.

Johnnie is survived by: Loving husband of more than 30 years, Daniel Hatmaker of Clinton; mother, Linda Reavley of Knoxville; daughters, Tabitha Jeffers and husband Ricky of Heiskell, Hope Hatmaker of Clinton; sisters, Tammy Sharp (Rusty) of Knoxville, Tina Bean (Scott) of Powell; grandsons, Ryker Lee Jeffers and Leland Joseph Jeffers; aunt, Shirley Young (Steven); uncle, Gerald Hatmaker (Blanche); nieces, Brittany Bean, Christina Gray (Jason) of Sevierville, Lisa Pinsinski (Mark) of Knoxville; nephew, Jonathan Sharp (Kelly) of Knoxville; great-nieces, Makenzie Gray and Brinlee Troutt; great-nephews, Aiden Sharp, Nathaniel Sharp, and Caleb Pinsinski; mother-in-law, Janice Hatmaker; brothers-in-law, Louie Hatmaker, Randy Hatmaker, Chris Hatmaker, Marty Hatmaker, Brian Riggs, and Johnny Flatford; sister-in-law, Tina Hamilton; special friends, Martine Kinkade, Angela Harvey, Faith Marlow, and Tammy White.

Johnnie will be laid to rest at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 29, 2022, at Red Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Andersonville.

THOMAS TOLIVER TRIPLETT

Thomas Tolliver Triplett, 72, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2022 at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.

Thomas had been a member of Island Home Baptist Church since 2014. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, going on nature walks, and his fur baby, Max.

He was preceded in death by: Parents, Glen and Bertha Triplett; and wife, Martha Triplett.

Thomas is survived by: Brothers, Joe Triplett of Mountain City, Jack Triplett and Patsy of Abington, Va.; sisters, Betty Greene of Vilas, N.C., Mary Moody of Vilas, N.C.; stepdaughter, Mary ‘Sheila’ Cox of Clinton; nieces, Jane Greene, Kristy Goforth, and Missy Yates.

He is also survived by his special friend, Jerry Stevens of Knoxville, along with a host of other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends in the Chapel of Jones Mortuary from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2022.

The memorial service will begin at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Dennis Galloway officiating. Interment will follow directly after memorial service at Oak Ridge Memorial Gardens.
