ROSS ‘HAP’ KELLIS HAPPNEY

Ross “Hap” Kellis Happney, 78, Clinton passed away at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge Sunday, July 2, 2017.

He was born in West Virginia to the late David and Clara Rodgers Happney. Hap was an avid farmer who enjoyed raising his cattle and also loved blueberry picking and fishing.

He was preceded in death by: Parents; and siblings, Manuel, Cecil, Bobby, and Eula.

He is survived by: Loving wife of almost 59 years, Linda Truman Happney; children, Sherri and husband Donnie Scruggs of Clinton, Russ Happney and wife Becky of Clinton, and Doug Happney and wife Angie of Prattville, Ala.; grandchildren, Kelli, Wayne, Adam, Patience, Zach, Jamie, Lexy, and Seth; great-grandchildren, Elijah, Wyatt, Hayden, Anna, Ryder, and Mason; sisters and brother in West Virginia, Dora, Irene and Maxine and Mark; and countless other family members and friends.

Hap chose cremation with no services to be held.

ROBERT CARROLL HUTCHINS

Robert Carroll Hutchins, 92, Clinton, passed away Wednesday, July 5, 2017.

He was born Oct. 27, 1924, in Knoxville to the late Hobert and Bess Piatt Hutchins. R.C. was a member of the First Baptist Church in Clinton. He was a veteran having served in World War II in the United States Air Force. R.C. graduated from the University of Tennessee with a degree in electrical engineering and later retired from Martin Marietta. R.C. was a past member of the Clinton City School Board and a City Councilman. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, woodworking, and gardening.

In addition to his parents, R.C. was preceded in death by: Brother, Jack Hutchins; and sisters, Evelyn Cox and Doris Webber.

Survived by: Loving wife of 67 years, Joan Beeler Hutchins; son, Byron Scott Hutchins; daughter, Julia Hutchins Spradling; grandsons, Michael Scott Hutchins and wife Trilla, Christopher Todd Spradling; brother-in-law, Don Mynatt
; several nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends.

The family received friends from 12:30 – 2 p.m. Saturday, July 8, 2017, at Holley Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton with the funeral service following at 2 p.m. with the the Rev. Daryl Cox and the Rev. Terry Baker officiating. R.C.’s interment followed at Grandview Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Pat Head Summitt Foundation.

ROGER DAVID ‘BO’ LAMB

Roger David “Bo” Lamb, 68, Clinton, passed away Friday, July 7, 2017, at the Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center of Knoxville.

Bo was born Feb. 11, 1949, in Clinton to the late Berlean Sr. and Graylon Abbott Lamb. Bo was a truck driver for DJP Transportation and served in the United States Army in Vietnam. Bo was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Clinton. He loved horses and loved cars.

In addition to his parents, Bo was preceded in death by: Brother William “Billy” Joe Lamb; and stepson, Chris Mount.

Survivors include: Daughter, Cena Lamb of Knoxville; wife, Carol Rose Lamb of Clinton; stepchildren, Brandi Martin of California, Jamie Hayes of Clinton, Clint Martin of Knoxville; grandchild, Chloe Hayes; brother, Berlean “Jake” Lamb Jr. and Mary Lou of Clinton; sisters, Rita Beach and Tom of Richfield, N.C., Linda Wells of Clinton; a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation is from 6 – 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 12, 2017, at Hatmaker Funeral Home in Lake City.

There will be a Celebration of Life service at 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 12, 2017, in the Hatmaker Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tom Byrge officiating.

MANUEL C. McGHEE

Manuel C. McGhee, 56, Knoxville passed away Tuesday, June 27, 2017, at Beverly Park Place Health and Rehab.

For 30-plus years Manuel was a truck driver and when he wasn’t driving a truck he enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson and spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his father, Gilbert McGhee.

He is survived by: Wife, Holly McGhee; children, Harold Holcomb and wife Cassidy, Larry Holcomb and wife Sascha, Manuel T. McGhee, Aaron McGhee, Brittany McGhee and fiancé Robbie Dotson; mother, Helen McGhee; siblings, Ray McGhee and wife Suzie, Ron McGhee and wife Jenny, Rene Holbrook and husband Pat, Mary Donahue and husband David; grandchildren, Brett Holcomb, Tyler Holcomb, Brenna Holcomb, Ranae Holcomb, Brianna McGhee, Ronnie Holcomb, Braiden Holcomb, and “Nugget” Dotson, due in December; several nieces, nephews and a host of other family and friends.

The family received friends from noon – 2 p.m. Saturday, July 1, 2017, at Holley Gamble Funeral Home.

BERTIE E. ROBERTS

Bertie E. Roberts, 94, Briceville, passed away Friday, July 7, 2017, at her residence.

She was born Oct. 21, 1922, to the late John and Ellen McGhee Daniels in Norton, Va. She was a devoted member of the Briceville Church of God for 74 years, 25 of which she served as Secretary and Treasurer. Her church, husband, and children were her life. She enjoyed quilting and talking about the Lord and will be dearly missed.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: Husband of 63 years, William Earl Roberts; four sisters, three brothers, and daughters, Nancy Lee Hatmaker and Penny Laura Wilson.

She is survived by: Daughters, Linda Spoon of Lake City, David Hatmaker of Briceviille; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 22 great-great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and a host of other family and friends

The family received friends from 5 – 7 p.m. Saturday, July 8, 2017, at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Rocky Top with the funeral service following at 7 p.m. with the Rev. Donnie Douglas and the Rev. Devin Barnette officiating.

Family and friends met at Holley Gamble Funeral Home in Rocky Top at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 10, 2017, and went in funeral procession to the Woodhaven Memorial Gardens for an 11 a.m. interment.

ROBBIE LEE WEATHERFORD

Robbie Lee Weatherford, 89, Clinton, joined our Lord peacefully after a short illness, Sunday, July 9, 2017.

Robbie was of the Methodist faith and was a member of Graham United Methodist Church in Savannah, Tenn., before moving to Clinton. While living in Clinton, Robbie was affiliated with Sinking Springs United Methodist Church. The family would like to extend their thanks and appreciation to Sinking Springs UMC for their care and outreach over the years. Robbie achieved her certification as a nursing assistant late in life after raising her six children. She worked as a CNA and truly loved her job. Robbie loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them all.

Robbie was preceded in death by: Parents, Thomas Oscar and Ester Lee Shelby; husband, Clarence L. Weatherford Sr.; sons, Clarence L. Weatherford Jr. and Michael Bruce Weatherford; daughter, Nancy Jean Jerrell; and grandson, Chadwick David Seivers.

Robbie is survived by: Son, Danny Lynn Weatherford and his wife Peggy of Powell; daughters, Sheila Diane Wade and her husband Stanley of Clinton, and Teresa Lee Seivers and partner Mark A. Hatmaker of Clinton; daughter-in-law, Lisa Weatherford and son-in-law Darrell Jerrell; grandchildren, Angela Purkey, Wendy Miller, Dawn Brummett, Denise Wade, Kristi Seivers, Bruce Wade, Rachel Weatherford, Elizabeth Miller, and Zachary Weatherford; 16 great-grandchildren; and special friend, Eva.

Robbie’s family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 12, 2017, in the Chapel of Jones Mortuary in Clinton.

Interment will be private.

LISA CHAMPION

Lisa Champion, 51, Powell, passed Monday, July 3, 2017, at home surrounded by her loving family.

She was a member of Second Baptist Church in Clinton. Lisa loved to sew, cross-stitch and travel. She worked for many years in the Anderson County School System where she retired from.

She is preceded in death by: Father, Howard Davis; brothers, Stevie and Chuck Davis; and niece Rachael Rhyne.

Lisa is survived by: Loving husband, Terry Champion; daughter, Hannah Champion; mother, Evelyn Davis; sister, Glori Bright; and many other family and friends.

The family will receive friends from noon – 2 p.m. Thursday, July 6, 2017, with a graveside service to follow at 2 p.m. at Woodhaven Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 160 Edgemoor Road, Powell.

KATHLEEN ABEL

Kathleen Abel, Clinton, passed away Sunday, June 18, 2017, after a long courageous battle with cancer.

She leaves behind to mourn her passing: A wonderful man who gave her the best 37 years of her life, Husband Robert Abel Jr.; three loving and caring daughters, Jamie (Steve) Stratton, Hollie Moore, and Keelie (Chip) Hooks; grandchildren, whom she was so very proud of, Dr. Kasee Stratton-Gadke (Dr. Daniel), CPL Tyler Moore of the US Marine Corp, and Taylor Morgan studying physical therapy at The University of Tennessee; one special, sweet, great-granddaughter, Aviana Gadke; sister, Bess Hodge; and close son-like friend, Roger Claiborne.

She was preceded in death by: Parents, Pat and Ann Graham; sister, Carrie Wertz; and brother-in-law, Forrest Hodge.

She loved and enjoyed camping with her family, her flower gardens, and her grandchildren.

At her request there will be no services held.
