FLORA ALICE GAULT LEWIS

Flora Alice Gault Lewis, 87, a native of Anderson County, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home with family by her side Thursday, June 15, 2017.
She was preceded in death by: Parents, Clarence Alonzo Gault and Flora Ellen Byrd Gault; husband, Earl C. Lewis; sisters, Helen Morris, Ruby Jean Gann, Mary Ben-Eliezer; brother, C. H. Gault.
She is survived by: Children, Anita Lewis Dixon (Lee Simon), Sandra Lewis Lambert (Richard Lambert), Dennis Lewis (Carla Freeman Lewis); and granddaughter Jessica Lambert.
She is also survived by: Sisters, Elsie McCarthy of Clinton, Beverly Disney (Herschel Disney) of Claxton; brother, Frank Gault (Brenda Gault) of Knoxville; sisters-in-law, Melba Brantley of Martinsville, N.J., Nina Gault of Claxton; brother-in-law, Israel Ben-Eliezer of Atlanta; and several nieces and nephews.
Alice graduated from Clinton High School (class of 1947). She retired from First American Bank of Clinton. She and her husband were members of Zion Baptist Church in Claxton. Alice sang tenor in the choir and was known for her powerful and beautiful voice singing, “Oh Holy Night” at Zion’s Christmas services. Following her husband’s death, she moved her membership to First Baptist in Clinton.
She was a hard worker, a great cook and an accomplished seamstress. She enjoyed doing daily crossword puzzles, feeding and watching hummingbirds, growing roses, watching “Wheel of Fortune” and spending time with her family and her granddaughter. Her favorite movie was “Gone With The Wind.” She enjoyed camping and traveling. She lived a full life and will be deeply missed.
The family would like to recognize their mother’s daytime caregiver of three years, Ms. Deborah Nease, and their mother’s evening caregiver of one year, Ms. Brenda Pemberton. Also, they would be remiss if they did not include a thank you to the writers and producers of “Days of Our Lives” for giving mom many happy years of viewing pleasure.
Finally, the family would also like to say a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge and Covenant Hospice for their compassionate care and guidance.

Burial was held at 4 p.m. Saturday, June 17, 2017, at Woodhaven Memorial Garden, 160 Edgemoor Rd. Powell.

STELLA ‘FAYE’ WARD

Stella “Faye” Ward, born Aug. 1, 1961 in Lake City, residing in Caryville, passed away peacefully surrounded by family, at Physicians Regional Medical Center of Knoxville, after a short illness Saturday, June 17, 2017.
She enjoyed spending her days painting, creating unique works of art out of rocks and sticks she collected, and being out in nature. She loved her dog, Awnie, who she shared 14 long years with. She also loved her grandchildren with all of her heart.
Faye was preceded in death by: Father, Henry Ward; grandparents; and several aunts and uncles.
She is survived by: Mother, Shirenia Sherrill; brothers, Chuck Ward and Tommy Ward; children, Nathan Way, Stephanie Rosselli; daughter in law, Stefanie Way; grandchildren, Brayden Rosselli, Serena, Ryan, and Abigail Way; niece, Lindsey Ward; and nephews Charlie Ganey, Andrew and Linkoln Ward.
A memorial service will be at Fellowship Baptist Church in Beech Fork at a later date.

HENRY ‘ALAN’ McLAURINE

Henry “Alan” McLaurine, 71, Clinton, passed away Wednesday, June 14, 2017, at his residence.
He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, who loved spending time with his grandkids and family, TVA retired buddies and his Lake City High School classmates. He was on the school board at one time and volunteered with the Medford Fire Department. He was a retired TVA Assistant Unit Operation Specialist and a veteran of the US Marine Corp.
Preceded in death by: Parents, Richard and Mattie McLaurine; daughter, Melissa McLaurine; brother, Robert McLaurine; sister and brother-in-law, Nadine and Andy Regan.
He is survived by: Wife, Nancy Rasnake-McLaurine; daughters, Christy Couch and husband Tim of Arkansas, Amanda Elmore and husband Burt of North Carolina, Melinda Guy and husband Mike of Clinton; son, Justin Williams of Clinton; grandchildren, Jason, Justin, Alex, Katlyn, Skylar, Ethan, Naaman, Ella Grace, Tannar, Taylor, and Lily Marie; sister-in-law, Lois McLaurine; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family received friends from 10 – 11:15 a.m. Saturday, June 17, 2017, in the chapel of Holley-Gamble Funeral Home with service following at 11:15 a.m. Interment followed in Oak Grove Cemetery.

WILMA VILES

Wilma Viles, 80, Clinton, passed away Sunday, June 18, 2017, at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville.
Wilma was of the Baptist faith and raised five boys. She enjoyed listening to Glen Miller and other big band music.
Wilma was preceded in death by: Parents, Elmer and Sylvia Smith; ex-husband, James Mack Viles; sons, Larry and Mark Viles; brother, Jimmy Smith; and sister, Shirley Smith.
Wilma is survived by: Sons, Ricky Viles of Clinton, Tim Viles and his wife Dana of Caryville, and Neal Viles of Clinton; sisters, Georgie Simons and Joyce Bullock; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Wilma’s family will gather for a graveside service at noon Saturday, July 1, 2017, at Woodhaven Memorial Garden in Claxton.

Richard Curtis Lindsay, 55, Caryville, passed away Wednesday, June 14, 2017, at his residence.
He was born in Clinton April 18, 1962. Richard was a member of the Mastin Lake Church of the Nazarene in Huntsville, Ala., Richard was a news director at WAFF Channel 48 in Huntsville, Ala., for many years.
Richard was preceded in death by his brother, Edward Ray.
Survivors: Parents, Curtis and Earnestine Lindsay of Caryville; daughter, Tiffany Wills of Florida; son, Zachary Lindsay of Huntsville, Ala.; brothers, Jeffrey Lindsay of Clarksville, Michael Joseph Lindsay of Huntsville, Ala., James Gregory Lindsay and Rosie of Decatur, Ala.; sisters, Debra Metcalf and Mylon of Union Grove, Ala., Kathryn McKinney of Huntsville, Ala.; grandchild, River Ellis Dodd; and many other family members and special friends.
Visitation was held from 2 – 3 p.m. Saturday, June 17, 2017, at Hatmaker Funeral Home in Lake City.
Funeral service was at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 17, 2017, in the Hatmaker Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Ron Williams and Brother Mylon Metcalf officiating.
Richard’s wishes were to be cremated.

SAMUEL PAUL ‘HOBBIT’ OTT

Samuel Paul “Hobbit” Ott, age 59, has finally found peace on this earth.
He was a very proud graduate of Porter High School, class of 1976, member of the football and baseball team, attended the University of Tennessee Knoxville, and was a fanatical follower of the Chicago Cubs.
Paul was preceded in death by: Father, Sam Ott; and infant daughter, Tiffany Hope Ott.
He is survived by: Mother, Pat McMahan of Powell; best friend and son, David Ott and his wife Emily of Norris; granddaughter, whom he dearly loved, Adaira Ott of Clinton; brothers, James Ott and his wife Louvada, of Rockford, and Lester Ott of Knoxville; sister, Amy McMahan of Lenoir City; nieces, Kayla Ott and Alyssa McMahan; nephews, Matthew Ott, Elijah Fox, and Aarron Jennings; first wife, whom he never forgot and still cared for, Rose Ferguson Seivers of Clinton; and his one true friend, Julie Sharp of Atlanta, Ga.
Please remember Paul’s infectious laugh, his humor, and true love for life and those around him. As Paul always said, “Let the good times roll!”

Bonnie Elizabeth Wilson, 86, Caryville, passed away Wednesday, June 14, 2017, at Lafollette Medical Center.
Bonnie was born on June 29, 1930, in Vasper to the late George Alexander and Lillie Mae Rains Caughorn. She was of the Baptist Faith.
In addition to her parents, Bonnie was preceded in death by: Husband, Ned Wilson; daughters, Ramona Jean Wilson and Marguette Joann Wilson Ward; brothers, Claude Caughorn and Glen Edward Caughorn; and sisters, Betty Monholland and Mary Sanders.
Survivors: Son, Curtis Wilson and wife Shirley of Vasper; son in-law, Tommy Ward of Lake City; grandchildren, Elizabeth, Ricky, and Sean; and many great-grandchildren, other family members and special friends.
A graveside service was held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 16, 2017, at New Vasper Cemetery in Caryville.

John Arlis Stephens, 53, Clinton, went home to be with the Lord Friday afternoon June 16, 2017.
He was preceded in death by: Parents, Arlis Marion and Helen Nadine Heatherly Stephens.
He is survived by: Brother, Joseph Stephens; special cousins, Sue Ellen Nidiffer, Emily Russell, Kathy Jeffers Smith; aunts, Maxine Stephens Jeffers, Sue Heatherly Miller, Bobbie Heatherly Kirkpatrick; uncle, Evan Heatherly (and wife Oma); as well as a host of extended family.
Visitation will be held from 5 - 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 21, 2017, at Holly Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton. The family will meet at 4:30 p.m. Thursday June 22. 2017, at Holley Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton to form a procession to Baker’s Forge Memorial Cemetery, near LaFollette, for a 6 p.m. interment service.
John was born at Oak Ridge Hospital Aug. 7, 1963. He attended Cedar Hill Elementary school Glenwood Elementary School, Shinliver Elementary School, and Clinton Junior High School. He graduated from Clinton Senior High School in 1979. He was a member of the Youth Conservation Corps, stationed at Norris Dam State Park the summer of 1979. Later he worked as a security guard. John enjoyed visiting Dollywood and keeping up with his old classmates on Facebook.
