MIddle School Wrap up

The Lake City Lakers beat visiting Winfield last Tuesday by a score of 28-16.

Lakers’ quarterback Eli Braden threw for 223 yards with a completion percentage of 73 percent and three touchdowns. He also ran the ball six times for 22 yards and a touchdown.

On the defensive side, he recorded a total of six tackles and intercepted one pass.

Lake City’s Sean Cain had 140 yards on six receptions with a touchdown.

The Laker’s Kole Buckner had seven total tackles, including a sack, a safety, and a forced fumble while teammate Lukas Moore had six total tackles and a safety.

Lake City’s Daylon Cole had an interception return for 50 yards in the win.

The Lakers return to action on Aug. 29, when they visit Huntsville.

Trace Thackerson threw for an eye-popping 322 yards and seven touchdowns as the Clinton Middle School Hawks beat visiting Jefferson Middle School 44-12.

The Hawks scored twice in the first quarter to lead 12-6 and added two more touchdowns in the second quarter to lead 26-6.

Clinton added two touchdowns in the third quarter and one in the fourth.

Connor Moody had seven receptions for an impressive 255 yards and four touchdowns. He also rushed for 62 yards.

Tyler Morgan, Andy King, and Javon Rodd also had touchdown receptions. King ran for 62 yards as well and led the team with five total tackles. Morgan, Moody, Caleb Cook, and Mason Hopper each forced a fumble while Joshua Patton and Chase Glandon recorded a quarterback sack each.

The Hawks will host Norris on Thursday at 7 p.m.
