Clinton Volleyball beats Union County

The Clinton Dragons volleyball team fell to Gibbs at home on Tuesday in four sets.

Clinton took the first set by a score of 25-22. They rallied from a deficit of 10-4 to take a 12-10 lead, largely on the serving of junior Madison Lambert and sophomore Makenzie McNeal.

The Dragons led for the rest of the set and closed out with a win but the Lady Eagles managed to take the next three sets by hard-fought scores of 25-19, 25-17, and 25-19.

Lambert finished with 11 points (five aces), 16 assists, one kill, and four digs.

McNeal had eight points (two aces), one assist, one kill, and eight digs.

Junior Abbie Stinnett had four points (one ace), seven kills, one block, and two digs.

Freshman Emma Clevinger had eight points (one ace), three kills, and one dig.

On Thursday, the Dragons won at Union County in straight sets by scores of 25-12, 25-18, and 25-15.

Clevinger had eight points (two aces), four kills, and one dig.

McNeal had 11 points (seven aces), five kills, and 20 digs.

Senior Priscilla Powers had 10 points (four aces) and five kills.

Clinton will play in the Alcoa JV Tournament on Friday and Saturday.

They will host Campbell County for Senior night on Sept. 26. The JV is scheduled to play at 5 p.m. and the varsity at 6 p.m.

The annual PINK NIGHT festivities to raise money for breast cancer research and awareness will be Sept. 28. In addition to volleyball matches involving Clinton, Lenoir City, Halls, and Karns, there will also be a silent auction, door prizes, and more.

Varsity game will be played at 6 p.m. and 7 p.m.
