Lady Wildcats Volleyball on a roll

Oak Ridge Lady Wildcat Volleyball improved to 19-4 (4-0 District) on the season after traveling to Knoxville West on Tuesday night.

They won in four sets, taking three sets by scores of 25-19, 25-11, and 25-21.

They dropped one set by a score of 25-21.

“It was a great hard fought win for the girls tonight,” stated Head Coach Dave Kolodney. “West is new to our district, so other than facing them early at the Showdown at the Sunsphere tournament, we didn’t know much about them.”

Oak Ridge defeated the Lady Rebels 2-1 at the Showdown back in August.

“They’re a scrappy tough team and it took four good sets to beat them,” continued Koldney.

The Lady Wildcats had not yet dropped a set in District play prior to dropping their first to West.

“Our girls hung in and fought back a bunch of times to pull it out in the end. It was one more set than we were hoping to play, but a win is a win and a district win is even better.” For Oak Ridge, Piper Halcrow finished with 14 points, six kills, two blocks, and 10 digs.

Paige Halcrow had nine points, two kills, 19 assists, and nine digs.

Oliva Milloway had 10 points, 13 kills, one assist, two blocks, and five digs.

Oak Ridge Lady Wildcat Volleyball Team hosted Campbell County on Thursday night where the ‘Cats swept the Cougars in three straight sets (25-6, 25-12, and 25-17).

“Tonight was a great milestone win for our team,” said Kolodney referring to the 20th win of the season. “Anytime you cross the 20 win mark you know you’ve got something special brewing — and tonight was a great example of what our team is made of.”

The Lady Wildcats extended their win streak to 13 games with this victory.

“All 11 girls not only played but contributed to scoring points. At this point in our season there's nothing more I could want from our team than to be able to put anyone in and know that they can handle what comes at them,” Kolodney continued.

Milloway finished with 10 points, seven kills, one block, 10 digs, and one assist.

Piper Halcrow had 10 points, eight kills, and nine digs.
