ACHS wins Norris Dam Invitational

It’s been a very successful two weeks for Anderson County cross country standout Maddy Moody.

On Sept. 9, Moody finished fourth in the Cherokee Classic in Knoxville with a time of 18:30.51. Teammate Mollie Longmire took 19th with a time of 19:38.21.

Sasha Neglia of Dobyns-Bennett won the event with a time of 18:01.77. D-B was also the first girls’ team.

Also running for ACHS was Josie Logan, who finished with a time of 24:32.57.

A total of 217 runners participated in the meet.

On the boys’ side, Carter Coughlin of Webb won the race with a time 15:12.43. Kirby Logan was Anderson County’s top finisher with a time of 16:48.01.

Oakland was the first place boys’ team. The Mavericks finished in 15th place and the Dragons finished in 37th place.

A total of 312 runners participated in the boys’ race.

Last Thursday, ACHS hosted a race at Norris Dam State Park.

Moody took first place in the girls’ race with a time of 18:54.89.

Longmire was third with a time of 21:20.75.

Josie Logan was ninth with a time of 25:12.71.

Other local finishers were:

• Mackenzie Hensley (ACHS) 27:22.64

• Shelby Elrod (ACHS) 31:23.56

• Alexandria Whitaker (Clinton) 40:06.20

The Lady Mavs finished as the first place team in the event.

On the boys’ side, the Mavericks were the first place team and dominated the event.

Kirby Logan won first place with a time of 17:20.02.

Anderson County won the top four spots as Grant Hayes was second (18:04.30), Micah Sawyer was third (18:05.15), and Colin Moody was fourth (18:11.37.

Drew Mullins of ACHS was ninth (19:32.03) and Cody Cruz of Clinton was 11th (19:53.29).
