Emhof joins Anderson County UT Extension

Laura Emhof, a University of Tennessee alumna, is the newest member of the Univer- sity of Tennessee Extension staff in Anderson County.

She is the new Family and Consumer Sciences Agent and is looking forward to be- ing a part of the long, rich tradition of Extension in Anderson County.

She has a Master’s degree from UT in Child and Family Studies and earned her Bachelor’s degree from Millersville University of Pennsylvania in Psychology with minors in Sociology and Criminology.

Having worked at a community mental health agency for the past six years, managing an Intensive Outpatient Pro- gram and providing parenting classes, Laura has been very active in the East Tennessee community already.

She has been working with community members in various settings including coordi- nating with schools, specialists, doctors, therapists and many other agencies, to support families and individuals to be able to thrive. She has worked with families on parenting issues, challenging child behaviors and trauma education, in addition to bud- geting and general health and wellness goals.

Laura has also worked with many individuals with Autism and other developmental disabilities throughout her professional career.

She is eager to start on this new path of helping her community in a different capacity and utilize different aspects

Laura enjoys being active in the community and has a love for people and animals of all kinds. She fosters for the East Tennessee Labrador Retriever Rescue and enjoys volunteering time at local events. Laura states, “Health and wellness are so important to how the community operates. We can’t expect people to do their best if they aren’t feeling their best or taking care of themselves”.

Laura has always had a passion for helping people to live their best lives and rmly believes that this can be done through education.
