And on May 27, Devyn Blackmore and Jordan Gallardo, also of Clinton High School, will be leaving for the Girls’ State government conference.

The American Legion is sponsoring the boys’ event and the girls’ event is being sponsored by Timely Topics.

These students have been handpicked to attend this weeklong leadership workshop, where they will learn about things such as citizenship and the government.

Gallardo stated that she is looking forward to utilizing the information she receives from the workshop to further develop leaderships skills.

Manning also stated that he is looking forward to developing leadership skills, and also seeing in a more in depth way what the government is like.

Bowling said, “I want to get a better understanding of how everything works in the government. How to cooperate with everybody in different ways and aspects of how you have to work together.”
