Helping teachers


Commissioner Chuck Fritts and Commissioner Tracy Wandell (not pictured) from District 1, each presented a check in the amount of $1,000 for a total amount of $2,000, out of their individual Waste Management Accounts, to Claxton Elementary School Principal Jennifer Coleman. The money donated will be used to help the teachers at Claxton Elementary with Teacher Professional Development opportunities for the 2018-2019 school year. Several ofthe Claxton teachers have expressed an interest in attending conferences that will advance their teaching practices, giving them the knowledge and strategies that will raise our student achievement levels. Normally the teachers would have to pay these expenses out of their pocket. This joint contribution will help these teachers with this expense.
