CHS Volleyball wins bracket in Early Bird Tourney

On Thursday, Clinton Dragons Volleyball fell to visiting Halls in three sets by scores of 25-18, 25-12, and 25-20.

Olivia Jenkins finished with seven points and one assist while Abbie Stinnett had 12 kills.

The Dragons won their bracket in the Early Bird Tournament held at Oak Ridge and Farragut last weekend.

On Friday, Clinton played two matches at Oak Ridge High School and dropped both. They fell to Concord in two sets by scores of 25-20 and 25-10. They also lost to Soddy Daisy by scores of 25-15 and 25-10.

On Saturday, the Dragons bounced back with fives wins at Farragut Middle School. The matches were originally scheduled to be played at Oak Ridge High School but a leaking pipe in the secondary gymnasium forced part of the tournament to be relocated.

Clinton beat Stone Memorial in three sets. They won by scores of 25-19 and 15-10. They dropped one set by a score of 25-15.

The Dragons beat Seymour in two sets by scores of 25-12 and 25-17.

They beat Powell in two sets by scores of 25-22 and 27-25.

Clinton beat Pigeon Forge in three sets by scores of 30-24 and 15-11. They dropped one set 30-24.

The Dragons then topped Stone Memorial for a second time to claim the bracket, winning in two sets by scores of 25-19 and 25-23.

For the tournament, Madison Lambert finished with 43 points (eight aces), 94 assists, and 23 digs.

Emma Clevinger had 35 points (eight aces), 27 kills, one assist, and 18 digs.

Olivia Jenkins had 29 points (10 aces), three kills, two assists, and 10 digs.

KimMiyah Woodard had 23 points (four aces), 26 kills, four blocks, and four digs.

Annabelle Jackson had 20 points (eight aces), one kill, two assists, and 39 digs.

Clara Thomas finished with 16 points (seven aces), one kill, and 15 digs.

Abbie Stinnett had 53 kills and three blocks.

The Dragons return to action on Thursday when they host district rival Gibbs. Anderson County will be there as well and they will face Union County. The JV starts at 5 p.m. and the varsity at 6 p.m.
