Two Dragons swimming for state title

Two Clinton High School swimmers will be competing in the state swim championships this weekend in Nashville.

Senior Colby Brown and junior Jacob Reasor will compete in the two-day meet scheduled Friday and Saturday at the Tracy Caulkins Aquatics Center in Nashville, located near Centennial Park.

Brown will be competing in the 100 and 200 freestyle events while Reasor is entered in the diving competition.

The two Dragons advanced to the state event after their high placements in the region competition against schools from across East Tennessee. The Dragons finished second in the overall region team standings.

“Our swimming team has had a tremendous season,” said Clinton co-coach Nicole Patalano, who shares the Dragons’ coaching responsibilities with co-coach Jan Smith. “Our team members have worked hard all season, enjoying much success in the pool and being able to qualify two members of our team to the state is an even greater accomplishment.”

Patalano said Brown and Reasor are making their final preparations for the Nashville competition this week with workouts at the University of Tennessee Aquatics Center in Knoxville.

“This is an important moment for Colby and Jacob and they are working hard in getting ready for their trip later this week,” Patalano. “Their hard work has paid off and Coach Smith and I are proud of what they have been able to do these past few months in setting up their opportunities this weekend.”
