Wearing seat belt could have made a difference

A fatal accident took the life of an Oliver Springs woman last Thursday at 10:06 a.m.

According to Tennessee Highway Patrol, Betty Webster, 61, was killed on Laurel Road in Clinton in a one-vehicle accident when her Ford Taurus drifted off the right side of the roadway and struck a culvert, according to the report.

This caused the car to go airborne. It struck a tree and flipped, landing upside down.

The report states that she was wearing her seatbelt but that she wore the shoulder strap under her left arm instead of over the shoulder.

THP stated in the report that wearing it properly could have made a difference.

Next of kin has been notified.
