Habitat for Humanity looking for volunteers
Habitat for Humanity of Anderson County brings people together to build homes, communities, and hope by working to eliminate inadequate housing in the county. It is HFHAC’s mission to create decent affordable housing with those in need through education, community outreach, and construction. Habitat is excited to announce three upcoming volunteer opportunities.
Habitat is currently seeking new ways to improve their Sweat Equity Program through meaningful experiences.
How can you help? You can help by volunteering your home repair expertise through HFHAC’s Homeowner Education Program. Habitat is looking for folks willing to share simple home repairs one Saturday in a class for 1-2 hours. These classes are geared toward prospective homeowners, but will be open to the public as well. Class topics include washer and dryer repairs, fixing a leaky toilet, to something as simple as maintaining a lawn mower.
HFHAC is looking for more construction volunteers available Tuesdays-Thursdays to join their weekday crew. Don’t have construction experience? No problem. No experience is necessary, and their construction team can train anyone interested.
HFHAC is also seeking assistance in their ReStore, located on Randolph Road. The 12,000 square foot Habitat ReStore is a resale store that accepts donations of new and gently used home furnishings, building supplies, and other household items. Those items are sold to the public at 10-50% of the normal retail price. Volunteers are needed to assist with donation sorting, merchandise stocking, and other tasks.
