The Blaze Hosts Family Night

More than 500 elementary students participated in the first annual Clinton City Schools Family Night last week.

The event was held on Thursday at Clinton High School’s Hollingsworth Sportsplex.

CCS athletics director E.T. Stamey said that the event was designed to promote family and physical fitness.

The students participated in various games and activities including yoga, putt-putt, basketball, football, gymnastics, Frisbee and other events.

“We had 500-plus kids participate in Family Night,” Stamey said. “Clinton High School athletic director Brad Collette and principal Dr. (Caleb) Tipton helped out.

“Clinton football, baseball and track helped with the scheduling of the event,”

Blaze Faculty Basketball Game: The Clinton City Schools faculty basketball game is slated for Feb. 25 at 7 p.m. at Arowood Arena and Stamey said he is seeking CCS teachers and faculty members to sign up to play.

Bowling and track: Track and bowling will begin on Feb.3.

Bowling is an intramural league and had a successful first season in 2019.

The Blaze track team had a successful campaign last spring with one athlete, Kenzlee Hutchison, qualifying for the Junior Olympics. The team will be coached by Terri Kerley and Stamey said that the program is looking forward to more success in 2020.

Blaze and the Anderson County Chamber of Commerce: The Clinton Blaze athletic program has taken the community by storm and now, the Anderson County Chamber of Commerce is chronicling the program and other day-to-day happenings in Clinton City Schools.

CCS Teachers to Compete in Blaze Teachers Bowling League: Area elementary school teachers will compete in a bowling league at Clinton Community Center. League play begins after the Christmas Break.

Blaze Bowling: The Blaze will begin a second bowling season on March 4. 2020.
