Middle school roundup

Lake City

Lake City has had a mixed season so far this year, starting off strong by beating Grace Christian Academy (CAK) on their home opener back on Aug. 18, only to barely come up on the losing side of a 12-14 score in their home game against Harriman on Aug. 25th after a rescheduled game against Jellico.

On Sept. 3rd, Lake City travelled to Jacksboro for their first away game, where they unfortunately lost 6-28 against the Eagles.

Still, Lake City proved they don’t plan on making a habit of losing after they returned home this week, winning their Sept. 10th game against Lafollette 28-0 in a decisive victory. The Lakers are off this week, returning on Sept. 24th at home for their 8th Grade Night.

This past week, though, Norris hosted their first home game of the season, where they beat Christian Academy of Knoxville (CAK) 26-14 after multiple interceptions and fumble recoveries by the Senators.

Norris plays this week at home for the second time, facing off against Loudon on Sept. 17.

CMS Hawks

Clinton Middle has had a rough start to their football season, losing all three games they’ve played at time of writing. They played two games at home to start the season, losing to Robertsville 0-14 on week 1 before hosting Loudon on week 2. Against Loudon, the Hawks put on a game, barely losing 12-14. For week 3, Clinton travelled to Spring City to face off against the Bulldogs. Unfortunately for Clinton, they lost 50-15.

Assistant Coach Justin Taylor said that Jack Wilson, Bo Wright, and Sam Raley have all shown great consistency on offense, while Elijah Sexton has continued to improve as both a QB and leader.

According to Taylor, Camden Britton has been a leader for the team’s defense, while Bryce Rice has had multiple interceptions.

The Hawks are away this week.

They travel to Christian Academy of Knoxville.
