ORPD will hold car seat check event Wednesday

The Oak Ridge Police Department, Oak Ridge Preschool and East Tennessee Children’s Hospital are teaming up to host the annual car-seat-check event this week.

The event will be held 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 28 at the Scarboro Community Center, 148 Carver Ave.

Parents and caregivers are invited to stop by anytime during the hoursof the event. Pre-registration is not necessary.

“This is a free service provided to the community. During the event, car seats will be checked for manufacturer recalls and examined for proper installation by certified car seat technicians,” ORPD Lt. Shannah Newman said.

Educational material about car seat safety will also be distributed.
