Blaze return home to ‘The Arowood’

The Clinton Blaze and Lady Blaze basketball teams hit the hardwood Thursday night and earned a split against Impact Club at Arowood Arena.

The Blaze nabbed their sixth win of the season with a 25-16 victory.

Landry Sharp led Clinton with 13 points and eight assists.

The Lady Blaze were edged 26-18 by a talented Impact squad despite getting 11 points and seven rebounds from Abby Philips.

The Blaze and Lady Blaze played intrasquad games on Monday, Jan. 11.

Top performers for the Lady Blaze included Phillips (24 points, 15 rebounds) and Topanga Easterday (16 points and nine steals).

Top performers for the Blaze included Jaylon Daniels (12 points, eight rebounds), Grant Hannah (14 points and nine rebounds) and Drayton Wade (11 points and nine rebounds).

Upcoming Schedule: Clinton will be on the road tonight (Jan. 20) against John Newman Catholic. Clinton will host Barbourville (Ky.) on Thursday.

Blaze basketball attendance protocols: Clinton City Schools E.T. Stamey announced the attendance regulations that will continue for the home games this season.

Tickets will be limited to two per player. Temperature checks will be performed upon entry. Face masks are required. Everyone must wear face coverings unless they are in an on-court in-game situation.

Social distancing protocols must be followed in seating. Game balls will be cleaned following each quarter. Standing Room Only attendance will be allowed at each game. Concessions will not be available.

Both teams must provide rosters to prove who will be in uniform on each night. No locker room use and entrance will be allowed at the front door only.

Blaze Basketball Record Book: Stamey has compiled a record book for the Blaze and Lady Blaze basketball teams. The girls record for assists in one game is six by Josie Moody. The boys record is nine. It’s held by Camden Nelson.

Blaze swim season: Stamey said that the Blaze and Lady Blaze swim teams are slated to begin the 2021 season in January. Meets will be held at the Clinton Community Center.
