After a tough year, Lake City Middle hires three new coaches

After a rough year involving unfortunate scandals, Lake City Middle School is moving forward strongly with three new head coaches, as well as adding a cross-country program to the school.

The school’s new track coach will be Charity Enix, a Clinton native and graduate from Anderson County High School with a degree from Tennessee Tech University.

Mrs. Enix is currently the seventh-grade English teacher at Lake City Middle.

“I enjoy teaching [here], and working with the wonderful staff,” she said. “Teaching my students is a true blessing, and building relationships with them is key. Leading and guiding them to realize they have a special purpose that is unique to them is vital. Rocky Top is very dear to me and my family.

“I’m excited to become the head track coach. Through this sport, I can continue to help students realize their potential and build relationships.”

The school also gained a new baseball coach in B.A. Idles, an alumnus of Lake City Middle School and Anderson County High School. Idles is also a deacon at Anchor of Hope Baptist Church, as well as the youth leader there.

“I’ve been coaching in the community for the past eight years,” Idles said.

“I’m excited to invest my time and knowledge into the community.”

Finally, the third new coach this year will be for the school’s new cross-country program.

Tim Miller, who is in his 12th year teaching at Lake City Middle School, will assume the position.

“It’s the first year of the program, and I’m excited,” he said.

“I’m looking forward to the new challenge.”

Miller is another lifelong native of East Tennessee who currently resides in Kingston with his family.

“Throughout my career, I have worked in various positions in athletics and with many different skill levels,” he explained.

“Outside of education, my life is still intertwined with athletics, whether that is being active in my neighborhood, watching my daughter play volleyball, or enjoying sporting events with loved ones. Sports are an integral aspect of my life. I look forward to this new journey ahead, and helping young athletes to reach their potential.”
