A note from ...

The Clinton Dragons were on a tear last week in all sports, from football to soccer to volleyball.

Clinton put a mercy rule on the Austin-East roadrunners 53-13, with a 98-yard kickoff return for a touchdown starting it off.

The Junior Varsity Dragons went to Blount County earlier in the week, to see if they could also keep the winning streak going, which they did 12-9 with help from a huge performance from Chauncey Felts.

Sophomore Chauncey racked up 94 yards and two touchdowns on the ground, while also getting 11 tackles and an interception.

Next up for Clinton is arch-rival Oak Ridge.

The Lady Dragons softball team is off to a 3-0 start, handing Greenback a 2-1 defeat.

Before that, the Lady Dragons defeated Gatlinburg-Pittman 7-0 on the road, and Fulton 11-0 at home.

This week, the Lady Dragons take on Anderson County on the road, and Loudon at home.

The Lady Dragons volleyball team is 2-2 heading into their arch-rival match with Oak Ridge this week, handing losses to Karns and Powell, while falling to West and Central. This means volleyball, football and soccer have a combined 7-2 record for the Dragons.

Other big news at Clinton High School includes the groundbreaking for the new softball complex adjacent to the cafeteria. The softball complex is slated to be completed before the 2022 season begins for the Lady Dragons.

Head Coach Leonard Sams is spearheading the project, and has helped with the concept every step of the way with encouragement from Athletic Directors Nate Martin and Rob Stacy.
