Veterans free breakfast will be held Sept. 11

Military Veterans Ruth Skidmore and Charlie Orr regularly attend the monthly Anderson County Veterans Appreciation Breakfast.
Military veterans from Anderson County are once again invited to come together this weekend for a community veterans breakfast after a long break for safety-related measures preventing COVID-19.

The breakfast, hosted by Anderson County citizens, is locally sponsored this month by Lt. Gov. Randy McNally and state Rep. John Ragan.

The breakfast will be held Saturday, Sept. 11, at the Clinton Community Center, 101 S. Hicks St.

The “chow line” opens at 8:30 a.m., and there will be a brief program at 9 a.m. honoring veterans.

All of the veterans breakfasts will recognize and honor local veterans and their families for their service to the United States.

Anderson County residents and community volunteers are working together to make the breakfasts a free monthly event that will allow veterans of all ages and branches to fellowship and share stories.

The city of Clinton is recognized as a special sponsor for hosting the monthly location and setup.

Local media are especially recognized for their role in letting veterans know about the breakfast each month.

While the Oct. 9 breakfast is sponsored by McNally and Ragan, the Nov. 13 breakfast will be co- sponsored by Clinton City Schools and Regina Copeland; the Dec. 11 breakfast co-sponsored by Lewis Ridenour and Matchette Construction, LLC of Andersonville; the Jan. 8 breakfast sponsored by Ryan Spitzer; and the Feb. 12 Bbeakfast sponsored by the Clinton Lions Club.
