The Clinton Middle softball squad honored its eighth-grade players last Tuesday night as the team wrapped up its regular season against Halls.

The squad was sitting at 14-2 going into the tournament last weekend in Cleveland against the best from the Chattanooga area. Clinton played undefeated ball until rain shortened the event.

“This is one of the more-talented teams we’ve had,” Coach Leonard Sams said.

“The Knox County District is extremely tough, but we’ve been there (top three) since the beginning.”

The Clinton Middle program is just three years in the making, but Sams said he has seen steady improvement every year.

“We’ve had a great group of kids, a great group of parents,” he said.
