Several from ACHS track participate in ‘optional’ Union County meet

Several athletes from Anderson County High School took part in a track meet at Union County High School last Tuesday.

Harrison Calhoun, Anderson County track coach, said the meet was optional and the athletes who made the trek to Maynardville wanted to get in some work.

In the boys’ 1,600 meter run, Sam Fulton of Gatlinburg-Pittman won first place with a time of 4:46.93. Connor Chandler of Anderson County took second place with a time of 5:07.35.

In boys’ shot put, Ryan Wright of Northview Academy was first with a distance of 42-10. The Mavs’ Riley Davis had a distance of 29-6.

In boys’ discus, Dalton Long of Claiborne claimed first place with a distance of 111-8. Davis finished third with a distance of 84-3.

In the girls’ 800-meter run, Emma Hamilton of Gatlinburg-Pittman was first with a time of 2:43.91. Kylee Alvis of Anderson County was sixth with a time of 3:03.58.

Alvis won the girls’ shot put with a distance of 32-8.

She was second in girls’ discus with a distance of 87-2. Erica Brock of Campbell County was first in the event with a distance of 111-5.

The Mavs and Lady Mavs full teams will be participating in the Hardin Valley Invitational at Hardin Valley Academy. The meet starts at 5 p.m. Friday and at 9 a.m. Saturday.
