Anderson County finished as runner-up in the District 4 4A tournament to host Halls last week, but the Mavs put that behind them Monday night.

On the road at Carter High, senior Wyatt Cox was in control for five innings, and was three for four at the plate, as Anderson County took a 6-3 win in the region seminfinals.

Cox exited the mound after five innings of work holding with a 2-2 score. The Mavs put up four runs in the top of the sixth giving Cox a 6-2 lead before turning the ball over to Bryson Wolfenbarger.

Wolfenbarger finished the final two innings.

Anderson County beat Clinton 10-5 last week in the semifinals of the district tournament, but had to turn around and face regular-season champion Halls in the second game of the district tournament double-header.

The Mavs lost that game and were put on the road for the first round of the region against District 3 4A champion Carter. The Mavs split a set with Carter way back in March, taking a 5-3 loss on the road, and 9-5 win at home. In the win in March Wolfenbarger came on after one inning and recorded the win.

Hudsom Hartgrove, Aydin Bond, Thor Williams, and Lane Fletcher each scored one for Anderson County against Carter. Trent Strickland came home twice for the Mavs.

Bond and Wolfenbarger each had two RBI. Williams and Logan Housewright each had an RBI.

Housewright, Haden Hartgrove, Williams and Bond each went four for four at the plate.
