There’s a new barber shop in downtown Clinton – the first since Joe’s Barbershop closed in 2019.

Called J’s Place, the shop, at 121 Leinart St., across from the Anderson County Courthouse, opened Easter week, and is operated by Jason Everett.

A ribbon cutting will be held at 9 a.m. Thursday for the new barbershop by the Anderson County Chamber of Commerce.

It’s downtown Clinton’s only barbershop, and essentially replaces Joe’s, which operated for years at 320 Market St.

Everett, a Maryville native, opened his Clinton shop after working several years at Big C’s Barber Shop in Oak Ridge, he said.

He said he knew about the closing of Joe’s Barbershop because some of the clients from there began coming to Big C’s after Joe’s closed.

“I’m familiar with a lot of people from the Clinton area because of that,” he said.

Giving them a barbershop closer to home makes it more convenient for them, he said, and he believes there is a strong market for a barbershop in the downtown area.

Everett, who lives in Oliver Springs, is a graduate of Heritage High School.

He attended Middle Tennessee State University before going for barber training at Knoxville Institute of Hair Designm he said.

The shop accepts walk-in customers and appointments, and offers haircuts, beard trims and straight-razor shaves, Everett said.

Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays.
