Rocky Top, ASAP sponsoring event with movie

Rocky Top and ASAP of Anderson County will host FamilyFest, with a free outdoor movie screening, at the Community Center ballfield beginning at 7 p.m. Saturday (June 11), presenting the film “Encanto.”

There will be hot dogs, popcorn and Kona Ice for refreshments, and the movie will begin as soon as it gets dark enough outside, said Rocky Top City Manager Michael Foster.

The event runs until about 10:30 p.m. at Rocky Top’s George Templin Field.

Fun activities will be available for the whole family, according to officials of ASAP.

“The event aims to provide community and family bonding and support,” said the alcohol- and drug-abuse prevention organization based in Clinton.

There will be an inflatable slide and a bounce house for children before the trivia contest begins at 8:30 p.m.

Screening of Disney’s “Encanto” is expected to follow around 9 p.m.

There will be door prizes, including Amazon Echo Dot devices and gas gift cards, given out every half hour, in addition to prizes for trivia winners.

Supporting the event are the Tennessee Highway Safety Office, city of Rocky Top, Oak Ridge Breakfast Rotary Club, and Anderson County Schools.
