The passing game

Dragons show off air power, defense at HVA

Clinton High School’s football Dragons have had a bit of bad luck with their 7x7 football schedule.

After beating Coalfield in their first scheduled 7x7 meet — a “win” on June 6 — summer temperatures have kept the Dragons off the field.

“The heat has played some havoc,” Head Dragon Football Coach Darell Keith said Tuesday morning.

Yeah, the heat.

The Dragons were scheduled for a 7x7 catch all at Bearden High School Monday, June 20, with the Bearden Bulldogs. The Bulldogs and the Dragons fought to a 24-point “tie’ at the CHS spring scrimmage in May.

The Monday night matchup didn’t happen, though.

The Dragons turned that opportunity into a 7x7 showcase at Hardin Valley Academy Tuesday morning against South-Doyle High School and Hardin Valley Academy.

The Dragons turned away the South-Doyle drives with interceptions, and scored a TD with a Joshua Keith to Jeremiah Lee score.

Due to The Courier News’ press schedule results against host Hardin Valley were not available.

“We’ll show them what we got,” Keith said before his team took the field against South-Doyle.
