Clinton issues permit of nearly $3 million for new oral surgery clinic

A Clinton dentist and oral surgeon has obtained a new building permit from the city of Clinton for a $2.9 million clinic on Frank Price Boulevard directly behind the Walgreens pharmacy on North Charles G. Seivers Boulevard.

The permit, dated Sept. 12, is the second one the city has issued for the clinic. The first, for a $2 million facility, was issued on Aug. 13, 2021, but no work had begun on the clinic during the ensuing 13 months.

Dr. James “Greg” Anderson, who already operates Anderson Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at 2130 N. Charles G. Seivers Blvd., obtained the permit for a 5,964-square-foot building on the 1.3-acre tract.

That’s a change from the original construction permit, which called for a 6,300-square-foot building.

A representative of the clinic said by telephone last week that ground had not yet been broken for the construction project. She added that Anderson had no comment on the plans for now.

No expected opening date for the new clinic was given.

The project also apparently has changed contractors. Johnson & Galyon Inc. is listed on the new building permit as the contractor, whereas Prime Construction of Knoxville was listed as the contractor on the first permit.

Johnson & Galyon Inc. is a Knoxville-based general contractor whose website shows a list of several major medical facilities it has built in the Knoxville area.

The property for the new clinic is in the Frank Price Park subdivision, where several multi-family housing units are either already built or under construction.

Anderson Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery now operates out of a strip center next to Community Trust Bank. That center also houses an urgent-care clinic, hearing center and pediatrics clinic, which are not related to Anderson’s practice.

Anderson’s wife, Cynthia, also works with him in the clinic.
