My Guys Comics, Clinton’s new comic book and video gaming store on Cullom Street, welcomed at steady stream of visitors all day Saturday, Jan. 28, for the store’s official grand-opening event.

Open since Dec. 15, My Guys Comics with Phoenix Gaming, at 405 Cullom St., features comic books, graphic novels, trade paperbacks, graded comic books, key books and more in the comic-book realm, along with a selection of new and used video games, trading cards, and toys – vintage and new.

The store has recently added new comics to the merchandise mix, and they come in every week, said Garin Dickerson, who is one of the four owners of the store, along with Jay Perkey, Sam Soto and Bryan Emmert.

My Guys Comics is open Tuesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

There are two rooms full of merchandise, with a large selection of comic books that is designed to appeal both to the novice and the veteran collector, Dickerson said.

He said Saturday that the store has been doing well since its opening, and has been drawing customers mostly from the local area.

Stock sold in the store, for now, is mostly from “our personal collections,” Dickerson said of the owners. “The four of us have been friends for a long time.”

The store also specializes in in first-edition comics, including ones like the “Ninja Turtles” and many others.

The store’s location was formerly that of the Mystic Orb gift shop, which has moved around to the back side of the building.
