Oak Ridge baseball drops two of three games last week

After getting off to a 5-0 start, the Oak Ridge High School baseball team has lost two of its last three games.

The Wildcats (5-2, 2-1 in District 3-4A) lost 10-6 to Knoxville Central Monday night at Tommy Shumpert Park in Halls.

Tyler Pickens went 3-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI.

Mikee Teasley collected a pair of hits against the Bobcats.

Alex Franklin went 1-for-3 with a double, a run and an RBI.

The loss follows ORHS’s 7-4 victory at home Friday night against South-Doyle.

In that game, which was played at Bobby Hopkins Field, the Wildcats overcame a 4-0 deficit against the Cherokees.

Pitcher John Ulreich threw a complete game, going seven innings.

He allowed four runs (two earned), seven hits and three walks. He had five strikeouts.

At the plate, Teasley had two hits, one RBI and a run scored.

Caden Black came up with a hit and scored two runs.

Jacob Franklin also had a hit, a run and an RBI against the Cherokees.

The Wildcats lost 15-1 to a powerful Maryville High Rebels team in non-district play Thursday, March 23.
