Competing in their second swim meet of the 2023 summer season, the Clinton Sharks defeated Tennova Family YMCA Thursday at the Clinton Community Center Pool.

The Sharks had several multiple winners and many of the team’s athletes posted improved marks over the times they swam in Clinton’s first meet of the summer.

In the girls’ 9-10-year old 25-yard freestyle, the Sharks swept the first three spots in the first heat as Laini Snoderly finished first (15.90). Brooke Pebley was second with a mark of 21.09 and Aubrey Pebley was third (22.73). Snoderly also won the 25-yard butterfly (21.04).

In the girls’ 11-and-12-year old 50-meter breaststroke, Piper Bostrom picked up the win, while Estill was second and Amelia Goins took third.

For the 13-and-14-year old boys, Ben Helus won the 50-yard breaststroke and Cooper Bostrom was second. Carl Helus was the top finisher in the 15-and-over section of the event, and Max Bostrom was second. Ben Helus also won the 50-yard butterfly as he touched the wall in 34.06 seconds.

Sarah Helus won the 15-and-over girls’ 50 breaststroke as she posted a time of 43.31 seconds.

Those were some of the top times of the meet, and Clinton Coach Jonathan Leninsky said he was pleased with his team’s marks.

“Many of our athletes improved their times from our first meet,” Leninsky said. “While we did win the meet in the sense of the score, that is less important to me as a coach. The way I approach the Sharks team is by focusing on the self-improvement of the athlete.”
