Lady Dragons pick up a pair on the pitch

In a week that saw Clinton High School’s girls soccer team score 11 goals, the Lady Dragons won a pair of matches.

CHS (4-2) closed out the week with a 4-3 victory over Campbell County Thursday night in a tight match.

Emma Leander scored four goals in the victory against the Lady Cougars.

“That was a back-and-fourth game, and Campbell County always plays tough against us,” Clinton Coach Suzanne Stout said.

The four-goal performance capped a big week for Leander and the Lady Dragons, who shut out Claiborne, notching a 7-0 victory.

Leander and Addie Haney each had a hat trick in that match, while Topanga Easterday added a marker for Clinton.

“It was absolutely great to win two games last week,” Stout said.

Clinton traveled across town to Anderson County Tuesday night, but results were not available at press time.

The Lady Dragons hit the road again Thursday night as they head to Scott to take on the Highlanders. Kickoff is slated for 6 p.m.
