Soccer playoffs pairings set

Area high school girls soccer teams will open their postseason runs on Tuesday.

District tournament seeding is complete and the matchups are set as postseason play is scheduled to get underway in District 4-AA and District 3-AAA.

Area sides will have some final non-district matches to serve as tune-ups for the playoffs throughout the week.

District tournaments in both leagues are set to begin Saturday.

In District 4-AA, the play-in game between Scott and Union County will be held Saturday.

The winner of that match will travel to face top-seeded Anderson County in Tuesday’s semifinal round.

ACHS Coach Chris Curtin said kickoff will likely be at 6:30 p.m.

Third-seeded Clinton, which had its best season in recent memory, will play No. 2 Gibbs Tuesday night at Ernest Whited Stadium in Corryton.

Kickoff time was not set at press time.

In District 3-AAA, top-seeded Knox Central and No. 2 Oak Ridge will each have a first-round bye. The Lady Bobcats and Lady Wildcats will each host elimination semifinal Tuesday night.

In Saturday’s quarterfinals, No. 4 Knoxville Halls will host Karns, and No. 3 Powell will host No. 6 Campbell County.

Oak Ridge will play the winner of the Powell-Campbell County match.

Central will play the winner of the match between the Lady Devils and the Lady Beavers.
